Math
Homework is not graded. Why should I grade something you are expected to do? If you put forth the effort to complete 100% of your homework assignments you have developed two good habits - self discipline and initiative. Read the below table to see what kind of job you do on your homework:
Homework is provided electronically with hints in the daily lesson plans. Homework is checked by students by looking at electronic hints. If student do not understand homework problems they should post a question on the homework blog (can access from the Math Notebook - not providing access here for security reasons)
By the way, if the entire class completes their homework for 60 days in a row I bring food. You may know some of the students below who earned pizzas and drinks! T
I keep a sign outside the class tracking how many days in a row students have completed homework assignments that says:
EVERY STUDENT IN THIS CLASS HAS COMPLETED HIS/HER HOMEWORK FOR _______ DAYS IN A ROW.
Each day after checking to see that each child has his or her work I change the total. This sign serves as a positive motivator because after sixty days in a row that the class continues to complete each and every homework assignment I cook or buy food to give them at lunchtime every week until a student/s do not complete their homework
If you have good habits and complete 100% (you have the right to dismiss homework one time by using the OOPS pass) of your homework you earn the right to increase your letter grade to the next highest level during each quarter. For example, a B+ grade would increase to an A -.
