Writing

All classes (Language Arts to math to electives) will follow specific methodologies and processes to learn writing.

Three different types of essay formats will be taught as detailed in the Weekly Essay Guidelines which includes a good hamburger graphic organizer (and online tool) to organize your essays before writing.

• Narrative. Will always be taught first because it is the easiest to learn
• Informational
• Argumentative. Will be reviewed last because it is the hardest to learn

After the essay guidelines have been reviewed students will learn to use the Rainbow models to write and to follow a specific process using the 6 Trait Writing Process which includes revising, editing and publishing. The Writer's Workshop document lays the basic groundwork to teach essay guidelines and the 6 Traits writing process.
