January 17th - An Introduction to the Identification of Wisconsin’s Pondweeds (Potamogeton)

Post date: Jan 5, 2017 12:56:53 AM

Please join the Botanical Club of Wisconsin on Tuesday, January 17th for an introduction to the identification of pondweeds (Potamogeton: Potamogetonaceae) of Wisconsin by Brenton Butterfield, a freshwater lakes ecologist with Onterra, LLC. Pondweeds are the most diverse genus of aquatic plants in Wisconsin and one of the most ecologically important. However, identification can often be difficult due to a high degree of phenotypic plasticity and hybridization. This identification workshop will focus on Potamogeton species in Wisconsin and will allow participants to work with both common and rare species. You're encouraged to bring your own specimens or photos that may have been giving you difficulty.
