Review by Emmet Judziewicz, UWSP

This wonderful compilation of the 66 “Wild Ones Newsletter” articles written by the late Janice Stiefel (1936-2008) from 1990-2002. Janice and John lived near Plymouth, then built and moved to their “Hidden Corners” sanctuary near Baileys Harbor in Door County earlier in this decade. I’ve often said that my proudest accomplishment as President of the Botanical Club of Wisconsin was to persuade Janice to edit our newsletter, which she did in outstanding fashion for a number of years. As many of you know, Janice’s passions were moths, butterflies, and plants, with occasional forays into dragonflies (She was also editor of the Entomological Society of Wisconsin Newsletter for many years). Janice was an outstanding photographer of all of them and this book showcases her talent as well as her skills as a writer. She is sorely missed by all those members of the BCW who knew her, but this book is a tribute to her accomplishments and spirit. Thank you, John, for sharing it with us.
