Fassett’s Locoweed (Oxytropis campestris var. chartacea) is a state endangered and federally threatened wildflower endemic to Wisconsin. For the last decade researchers at the University of Wisconsin have been tracking populations at a few lakes in central Wisconsin to see how they transition between life stages and how their distribution changes around the lake shore. More recently, Dr. Nic Tippery of UW-Whitewater has put in monitoring wells at the lakes to see how groundwater may impact locoweed survival. Join us as Dr. Tippery’s team discusses the results from this long-term project and the long-term outlook for one of Wisconsin’s only endemic plants.
