"Mass" is better known as "FORM"

*note* there are two other elements of design VALUE and SPACE. We will not be using these two design elements for this task.

Your Task (Part 1):

Search the Web for high-quality examples for the following:

These can be photographs, paintings, drawings, illustrations, etc.

FORM (MASS)

TEXTURE

COLOUR

Add these 5 examples (1 per elements of design) to your journal

Include in your journal:

• the name/ title of the design element next to the example
• a brief description of what the element of design IS

Your Task (Part 2):

Using the camera in your smart phone/ a digital camera:

• Find a partner (or work solo)
• Go out into the school environment (but do NOT be disruptive)
  • you should have a total of 15 photos to hand-in.

Photograph a subject featuring/using:

3. Vertical LINE(S)
4. Square SHAPE (S)
5. Circle SHAPE(S)
6. Triangle SHAPE(S)
7. Your choice # 1 MASS/ FORM

9. Your choice # 3 MASS/ FORM
10. Your choice # 1 TEXTURE
11. Your choice # 2 TEXTURE
12. Your choice # 3 TEXTURE
13. Your choice HUE (COLOUR)
14. Features Warm COLOUR(S)
15. Features Cool COLOUR(S)

Note: I am NOT marking your photography skills for this task. I am evaluating your knowledge of all of the elements of design.

That being said, work to hold your camera still and consider focus (image sharpness) and lighting (too dark/ too light) to achieve successful photo examples.
