How To Use The U.S. National Grid
This presentation will provide general instructions on practical uses of the U.S. National Grid (USNG). A map without a grid is just a picture. Standardized grids based on the USNG provide a universal language of location that provides a common linkage among various maps and map scales, as well as mobile apps. It is an efficient, unambiguous, and uniform method for communicating locations from the field to a command post and vise versa. It also provides GIS professionals with interesting opportunities for logical map names for creating map series and map books. Concepts and practical examples will be provided.
