The CIC Geospatial Data Discovery Project: Harmonizing Metadata for Greater Discoverability
The Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC) Geospatial Data Discovery Project is a collaborative pilot project to enhance discoverability, facilitate access, and connect scholars across the CIC to geospatial data resources. Nine of the fifteen CIC member institutions are participating in the project, among them the University of Iowa, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The project will support the creation and aggregation of discovery-focused metadata describing geospatial data resources from participating institutions and will make those resources discoverable via an open source portal. This talk will provide an overview of what we’ve done so far and what’s next.
