GeoMOOSE 3.0 : Modernizing the Unmodernizable
GeoMOOSE has been around for over 10 years and has developed in two distinct series. The original 1.X series pre-dated OpenLayers and many other popular mapping libraries. The 2.X series flourished with the power of OpenLayers 2 and the burgeoning power of the web-browser. But 10 years is a long time to create code-cruft. Cruft and momentum make modernization of a volunteer project a daunting task. / / In a cathartic, therapeutic way, the GeoMOOSE project has staked out a plan to adopt another round of new Geo-web-standards while keeping to its core mission. Expect to hear about the process, pitfalls, and promise of taking a long time JavaScript project into brave new worlds. Someday, maybe ECMAScript 6, will save us all!
