Data Fusion: Merging Public Domain Data & High Accuracy Mobile Lidar to Address Budget Constraints
Vast amounts of public domain geospatial data exist and are readily available for planners, engineers, and designers. Often, however, that data is not current or accurate enough to meet project needs. In today’s economic environment, cost effective surveying and mapping is required to meet the financial constraints of projects while at the same time providing geospatial data that is accurate and current. Continental Mapping will showcase several projects where public domain geospatial data was tied to newly acquired mobile lidar data to provide comprehensive, 3D datasets to engineers at a reduced cost resulting in a cost effective strategy. The presentation will walk through projects where this approach to data fusion has been successful.
