Development of a Solar Potential Map and Web Mapping Application for Iowa
This presentation will detail efforts to use LiDAR data and ArcGIS Solar Radiation Modeling tools to model solar radiation potential across the state of Iowa. The project also documents statistics for solar radiation potential for publicly available building footprints in Iowa. The presentation will also discuss the functionality of the public web mapping/visualization application. This project was funded by the Iowa Economic Development Authority and is similar to the Minnesota Solar Suitability Analysis carried out at the University of Minnesota.
