REST Services Inventory - Lessons Learned & Best Practices
Iowa DOT has a goal to make as much GIS data as possible available to the public. This led to new REST Services, 240 in total, being stood up without much thought into managing them all. This project led to reducing the number of services, improving performance and documenting them all to help with change management. This presentation will cover the inventory process including how information was gathered, how a database was set up and how it help with change management to REST Services. This inventorying process was crucial in improving speed and stability for all the REST Services at Iowa DOT. This presentation is geared towards state governments or larger entities that have many REST Services.
