Mentoring for Learning and Teaching 

Workshop Description

This workshop is a compulsory introduction to the Mentoring for Learning and Teaching Scheme for both mentees and mentors. The mentoring programme is centred around positive conversations with a neutral person, that helps mentees to create a clear development plan, understand how to achieve what's expected of them in their role, and navigate their way through learning & teaching issues.

After this introductory workshop, you will be asked to indicate whether you are interested in becoming a mentor, mentee or both. Mentors are staff who are trained in mentoring skills, and all participation is completely confidential.

Aim

• To develop participant’s understanding of what an effective mentoring partnership involves and expectations of the programme.

Learning Outcomes

1.  Identify the expectations and requirements of the programme.

2.  Analyse what a ‘good’ mentoring conversation involves.

3.  Evaluate what mentoring for teaching and learning means in your context.

4.  Outline what happens before and between meetings.
