Dealing with Difficult Scenarios as a PATS Tutor
Workshop Description
These sessions are for staff who are currently a personal tutor for MBChB students and would like to become more confident in managing difficult scenarios. The session provides an introduction to the theme and provides a range of signposting and support options, including how to employ specific strategies using example scenarios. The workshop takes a more interactive approach, with the emphasis upon sharing your own experiences and examples of best practice.
These sessions have been adapted for online delivery and addresses the same intended learning outcomes as the face-to-face workshop. The online version consists of an independent 1.5 hour live session on Blackboard Collaborate, in the form of an interactive workshop.
Aim
These sessions are designed to provide personal tutors with the tools and strategies to support their students effectively.
Learning Outcomes
To introduce what a 'difficult scenario' is and talk about situations which you may encounter
To discuss some common examples of difficult scenarios and how to approach these
To be aware of the services and support available and how to signpost to these.
To feel better prepared to manage a difficult scenario and more confident in how you can best support your tutee
Consider how the Gibbs’ reflective cycle can play a part in supportive conversations

NOTE- The workshop will be identical so you only need to book onto one.
