Year 7
We were incredibly impressed by our Year 7 students' Water Aid campaigns. Working in teams, they simulated working for Water Aid and presented persuasive speeches to a mock United Nations assembly. Their speeches powerfully argued that access to clean water is a fundamental human right. Our Year 7s have also travelled the world by looking at Poetry from Around the world. They have enjoyed looking at global issues.
Year 8
Year 8 students have been engrossed in Shakespeare's Macbeth. They have enjoyed looking at gender roles and expectations in the play, symbolism and understanding the context behind the play. To culminate their studies, they will enjoy a performance of the play in the Lecture Theatre at the end of the academic year.
Year 9
Year 9 has been delving into Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. Through their studies, they've gained a valuable understanding of democracy and the importance of safeguarding it. They have enjoyed learning about Ancient Rome and making connections to how governments are run today.
Year 10
Year 10 students have embarked on a literary journey this year, exploring A Christmas Carol, Romeo and Juliet, and Animal Farm. In preparation for their Literature and Language mock exams, they have honed their skills. They have also delivered well-considered spoken language assessments on pressing global issues, including doping in sports, genetic engineering, climate change, and the portrayal of women in the media.
Year 12
Year 12 students have also been busy recording their speaking and listening presentations, which contribute 20% to their final grades.
