Year 9 Complete their MYP Journey
On Friday 4th July, three years of hard work with the IB Middle Years Programme, came to fruition with the celebrations for the Community Project. Year 9 students had completed their projects in teams, through research, planning, action and evaluation and they did a fantastic job!
There were a huge range of projects from litter picking, reducing plastic use, raising money for dog sanctuaries, a Year 7 academy disco, a bullying initiative and support for children with anxiety, to name but a few of the wonderful ideas Year 9 imagined.
The celebratory afternoon itself was a roaring success, with the best 16 groups presenting their projects to Year 8 students, who will themselves complete the project next year. All Year 9 students involved were rewarded with a certificate which we are sure will be cherished for years to come.
Towards the end of the afternoon, selected groups gave a main presentation to an audience of peers, parents and carers, Mrs Collins and other members of the SGLA community. We were also incredibly fortunate to be able to welcome the Mayor of Dartford to our celebrations, and he was really very impressed with what he witnessed.
Very well done Year 9! You deserve to be recognised for your hard work and resilience.
