Module 5 saw us say good-bye to our fantastic Year 11 Drama students who have successfully completed their BTEC Performing Arts award, culminating in outstanding final performances for Component 3: Devising Theatre. Every student poured their creativity and effort into crafting unique pieces. The two compelling performances, both distinctly Brechtian in style, powerfully addressed important topical issues. All students should be immensely proud of their commitment and the high quality of their theatrical creations, demonstrating significant growth in their performance and devising skills throughout the course.
Our Year 10 Drama students have submitted their coursework for BTEC Component 1: Exploring Performing Arts, a significant milestone showcasing their research and understanding of theatrical style and creation of 'Everyone's Talking About Jamie'. This achievement marks the perfect transition as they now enthusiastically embark on Component 2: Skills and Techniques in Performing Arts. This new component is an exciting scripted practical unit, allowing students to hone their performance skills through direct engagement with existing repertoire. They will delve into characterisation, vocal work, movement, and stagecraft, applying their learned techniques in a hands-on, creative environment. We eagerly anticipate their development as they bring these scripts to life!
All KS3 Drama students have truly shone in their recent MYP assessments, demonstrating excellent progress and a fantastic willingness to respond to feedback in lessons.
Year 8 are taking their creativity to the next level, moving on from their design work for Macbeth to bravely craft powerful Political Theatre pieces, drawing inspiration from the master himself, Bertolt Brecht.
Finally, Year 9 have gained a deep understanding of Verbatim and Immersive Theatre. They're now poised to begin devising their own innovative pieces, mirroring the exciting independent work undertaken in the BTEC qualification in KS4
