On Wednesday 9th July, our academy was transformed into a vibrant tapestry of colour, culture, and community spirit as we marked our annual Culture Day. This special event, rooted in the principles of our IB programmes and our school motto "Opening Minds to Success," brought together students and staff across KS3 to KS5 in a powerful celebration of identity, diversity, and global citizenship.
From the moment the school gates opened, it was clear that this year's Culture Day was going to be one to remember. Students arrived proudly dressed in traditional and culturally inspired outfits representing a multitude of heritages — from Ghanaian kente cloth to Indian sari, from Japanese yukata to Nigerian agbada, and so many more. Many students also thoughtfully chose to represent cultures they are interested in learning more about, highlighting the curiosity and respect that define our academy community.
Staff were no less enthusiastic, with colleagues joining in and sharing their own cultural stories and traditions with students throughout the day. Tutor time was filled with energy as college groups posed for group photos, capturing the joy, unity, and vibrancy that radiated throughout the building.
We are incredibly proud of the way our students embraced the spirit of Culture Day. It was more than just a dress-up day — it was a meaningful experience that encouraged empathy, opened minds, and reminded us all of the beauty in difference.
Thank you to all students, staff, and families for your continued support in making Culture Day 2025 a huge success. We look forward to continuing to celebrate our diverse community and inspiring each other to be proud, open, and globally-minded citizens.
