On 7th May Ms Grant and Mr Dyer took a group of very enthusiastic year 10 & 12 students to see 'Dear England', at the National Theatre. The play focuses on the England men's football team as Gareth Southgate tries to bring them back to the promised land. It was a fantastic afternoon and allowed some students who hadn't seen a play before to experience the joy of the theatre.
We are absolutely thrilled with this year's IB results. Our year 13 students have worked incredibly hard and we are really proud of everything they have achieved.
And just like that, another Year 13 cohort have finished their exams and are off into the big wide world. This year's celebration was a little different to usual, but the atmosphere between staff and students was electric and it was a joy to see students enjoying their final day with us. We wish you all the best for the future.
What an action packed two days! We were super excited to invite our prospective year 12 students to get a taste of what Post 16 is like. We hosted trial lessons across all of our subject offers, as well as offering students a taste of our IB core programme. It was lovely to see both new and old faces and we look forward to welcoming them all back in September.
We spent an absolutely fantastic (albeit slightly wet) day at Mote Park, having fun on the row boats and pedalos. After we had all dried out, we had a quick pit stop for lunch and then headed home for a well earned rest.
For the first time in Attenborough College history, we hosted our very own sports day for year 12 on their last day of term. Everyone got involved (staff included!) and we had a fantastic morning. Thank you everyone for your enthusiasm and team spirit!
We are really lucky to work in partnership with Canterbury Christchurch University. During enrichement week, they came in to deliver sessions on student finance and budgeting, and personal statement writing. The sessions were really informative and got year 12 thinking about how to spend their student loan wisely!
As part of our PSHCRE programme, we continue to offer sessions around issues that matter and are relevant to our young people. We invited the Schools Consent Project in to explore the issues around consent, sexual activity and the law. A very thought provoking session which year 12 dealt with sensitively and maturely.
The St John's Ambulance Service offer a really useful training session on 'street first aid'. It focuses on the sorts of injuries and situations that young people might find themselves in whilst they are on a night out, or out and about with friends. Whilst we hope they never have to use it, we think this type of First Aid is a really useful skill for our students to have.
A big thank you to Lara from the Ebsfleet Development Corporation, who came to deliver a talk on all things apprenticeships. We are very grateful to have Lara as a contact and she has been able to offer our students lots of opportunities this year.
