Throwing Some Shapes to Raise Money for Charity
On Thursday 8th May, virtually all of Year 7 came together in the academy restaurant to dance the afternoon away, to a variety of music, courtesy of a group of Year 9 students who had planned the event as part of their Community Project.
The aim was to raise money for a charity that supports young people who suffer from anxiety, the Social Anxiety Alliance. To enhance the disco further, another group of Year 9 students provided sweets and drinks to raise money for the charity Second Chance Animal Rescue, who provide care for animals at risk of suffering. The groups raised a grand total of £200 for their chosen charities, which will be well welcomed by the two groups.
Alongside the aims of raising money and completing the Community Projects, the disco was all about having fun, and the Year 7 students certainly looked like they were having a great time, as you can see from the images.
Well done Year 9 for providing a fantastic afternoon for Year 7.
