As a school librarian, I hope to convey and support an understanding of the special space libraries can be for young imaginations: a space to make connections, to cultivate of love of story and language, and to follow lines of inquiry and discovery that will develop personal interests as well as academic projects. Growing up in Toronto, I enjoyed wonderful formative experiences accessing and working in public and academic libraries.
I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto with majors in Philosophy and Religious Studies, and a minor in Literary Studies, and I did graduate studies at the University of New Mexico in Architecture and Fine Art History (emphasis on Native American built environments and cosmology) and a post-Baccalaureate Education K-8 licensure degree with endorsements in Fine Art, Reading, and Library Media. I have been a public educator in the United States for 17 years.
I am an active member of the Santa Fe Book Arts Group. At the SFCC Center for the Book, I continue to develop work related to an artist residency, which I did with the Tallgrass National Preserve. This summer, I was awarded a scholarship to study with fiber artist and scholar, Susan Brandeis at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. I exhibited work with Abecedarian Artists' Books Gallery in Denver, the Ross Art Museum in Ohio, and the Night Sky Gallery in Santa Fe this year, and continue to prepare for upcoming exhibition opportunities.
