I am happy to be in my eighth year of teaching fourth grade at El Dorado Community School. We have the best Administrative, Secretarial, Ancillary, and Teaching Staff EVER!!! It is an awesome privilege to work with such a dedicated group. The parent body at El Dorado is wonderful, supportive, and involved.
I consider my position "The Sweet Spot"! It is a wonderful grade for exploring the world from the point of view of positive thinking and the ability to make a difference. Fourth graders are full of 'can do' energy! I love to expose the students to many disciplines and perspectives through integrated arts involving Active Learning Through Opera (ALTO), ArtWorks, The National Park Service, and collaboration with other grades/teachers in a "Learning Buddy" style. I learn more about the world through their eyes every year.
I hold a position of Vice President on the PTA, am a member of the school SITE Committee, assist with the After-school Enrichment Program, am a co-coordinator of the Elementary Science Fair, and am a co-school science leader for ISEC (Inquiry Science Education Consortium) for the Los Alamos National Laboratory Foundation which supports inquiry science in the public schools.
I am currently 1/2 way through my Learning And Technologies Master's Degree Program thru Western Governors University. I received my BA from them in 2009: Interdisciplinary Studies for Elementary Education.
I am the mother of 3 children; ages 31, 24, and 16. I have lived in Santa Fe/ nearby area for 33 years. I was born in Seattle WA. I love the mountains, sky, colors of the landscape, and the food in both places.
