Hello! I am very excited to be the new full time school counselor at El Dorado Community School this year! This school year marks my 30th year as a school counselor. I am a National Board Certified School Counselor.
Previous to working at EDCS I was the school counselor at César Chávez Elementary School in Santa Fe and I also worked for Fairfax County Schools in Fairfax, Virginia.
This summer my golden retriever, Aspen, and I became a registered therapy dog team through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Aspen will be coming to school one day a week beginning in the early fall of 2018 to provide Animal Assisted Activities, comfort and hopefully lots of smiles to the students at EDCS. Please feel free to contact me at 467 4921 or rhemmig@sfps.k12.nm.us if you have any questions about therapy dog work. For FAQ's about animal assisted activities, see the document below.
Ms. Teresa Barickman and I will be dividing the students we work with this year. I will be working with grades K, 1, 2, 4, 5 and 7. Ms. Teresa will work with Mr. Mosconi's class and grades 3, 6, 8.
I look forward to a wonderful year with the students and families at El Dorado Community School.
This year EDCS will be implementing a program called PAX in grades K-5. PAX stands for peace, productivity, health and happiness. Learn more about it here!
