Students will be able to:

• create interesting patterns in efficient ways

  • gradients, pathfinder pallete, pattern maker, brushes

  • change scale and rotation of patterns

• create separate shapes with the pathfinder / divide tool 

• use clipping masks to fit patterns inside shapes

• use interesting colour palettes 

• practice and review Illustrator techniques

• understand how to use line, shape, colour, repetition and pattern together to create art (elements/principles of art and design)

Timeline

Timeline 1 classes

• 1. Watch first video: What are Zentangles?

  2. Look at pattern examples

  3. Complete the 3-part tutorial:

     • Part 1: Creating the zentangle spaces

     • Part 2: Making and adding patterns

     • Part 3: Effects, Clipping Mask & Recolour

  4. Create your own original zentagle

     • Minimum of 9 different spaces

     • At least 4 different patterns

     • Use at least 1 filter/effect with clipping mask

     • Use at least 3 different colours

     • BONUS: Use generative colour to experiment with 2 more colour combinations

  5. Post your favourite colour combo (or all 3 if you'd like) to your portfolio on the AI Basics page

  6. Complete the "What I've Learned" Sections

  7. Publish your site

  8. View the published site and turn in the link to the page in google classroom

10/10: More than 4 original patterns, patterns range in style (simple and complex, different shapes etc.) at more than 3 colours used, all What I've Learned questions answered

8-9/10: 4 original patterns, 3 colours used, all questions answered

5-7/10: 2-3 patterns created, 3 colours used, questions answered or partially answered

0-5/10: Less than 2 patterns, less than 3 colours, questions missing
