the shape shoulld not be super complicatedÂ
you will have to trace it later - should take 10-15 minutes to trace
Don't allow this part to take you more than 10 minutes
If you can't decide call us over and we will decide for you
Watch the tutorial video below.
Song lyrics work really well as quotes!
Hand drawn fonts work best but feel free to experiment. The font I used in the example on the left is linked below the video and free on Adobe Fonts.
Vector grunge texture pack can be downloaded here (care of Spoon Graphics UK). You will use this towards the end of the tutorial.
Export your image as PNG
Post to your digital portfolio under Illustrator Projects along with the What I've Learned questions.
Students will be able to:
Use the Envelope Distort Mesh tool to create text that fills an illustration
Use the pen tool and pathfinder to create an outline/silhouette of an image
Use transparency settings and a mask to add texture
Play around with layout, spacing, and font
What do you think is successful about your piece? Why?
What was most challenging about this tutorial?
Under which menu item do you find Envelope Distort?
