Pick a mood or feeling (ie. happy, scared, excited, sad, adventurous, etc.)
Using what you've learned in previous lessons (direct selection, pen tool, pen curvature, shape builder, pathfinder, typography) create your own font based on the feeling you choose
There is a quick tutorial on the warp tools for this project!
You must manipulate/edit/distort the font. You cannot use a pre-made font without any alterations.
Time Line 1 Warps: 1/2 class
Time Line 2 Feeling & Fonts 1 class
Part 1: Watch the warp tools video
complete 8 sections of the template
make an image (jpeg) of the completed template and add to your portfolio
Part 2: Choose a feeling or mood
What images come to mind when thinking about the feeling/mood?
Open a new project in Adobe Illustrator
Type the name of your feeling/mood at least 5 times onto your artboard. Experiment with each one (like a digital sketchbook). You only have to hand in one design, but you can hand in more versions if you'd like.
Using different tools in Illustrator, modify and manipulate your font to look like your feeling (hint: turn your text into an outline!)
white arrow tool, warp tools, add anchor tool, etc.
Experiment with different effects, colours, fonts and tools--make mistakes and have fun with it!
When you are finished, upload to your digital portfolio under AI Projects. Don't forget to answer the What I've Learned questions.
COLOUR PSYCHOLOGY

TIPS AND THOUGHT-STARTERS:
What colours are related to your feeling or mood?
What human reactions/body language could be depicted as a font (ex. happy looks like smiling; scared looks like hair sticking up on your arms etc.)
You can manipulate text by turning it into an outline and using the direct selection tool to modify/move points.
Try out different filters and effects to change the shape of your font.
Think about: rotation, scale, repetition, reflection, spacing, height etc.
What tools did you use to get to your final design?
What colours are related to your feeling or mood? How?
In what way(s) does your font design show your feeling/mood?
If there was something you could do differently next time, what would it be?
