(6/23 extended day) Today was an awesome day for all of us! The students asked great questions of the manager of Members Cooperative Credit Union (MCCU) and learned the differences between: banks vs. credit unions; for profit vs. not-for-profit businesses; cashless vs. cash tellers.
They were very well behaved and used their manners at Pizza Pub. The manager actually came up to me and thanked us for coming in, plus complimented the group on their behavior. Ask your child about how to figure out the amount they left for a tip.
The other excited news from today is that this group is "in the black" $396.44! Let's just say there were some VERY excited entrepreneurs in room 606 today! They are working hard together, as a team (ask them what I say about the word team).
(6/22) After only 13 short hours, our raffle ticket sales tallied $150!! I wish I would have video taped the reaction on all of their faces....priceless! Thank you for passing the word around that we are selling raffle tickets for our baskets. Sales keep coming in and tomorrow will be another smiling day for our 15 young entrepreneurs!
(6/21) The team is VERY excited, they are "in the black" but they also know that they have a supply order coming in tomorrow. However, they are really grasping that though they have been "in the red," to hang on....it will get better!
Our raffle baskets are officially for sale. Check out our updated blog for all of the basket options..... https://youngentrepreneurs2021.blogspot.com/
(6/20) It sure has been a busy couple of days (last Friday and today)! Check out our new blog (https://www.blogger.com/blog/post/edit/preview/3163125701718620711/194609343789016220) that we started today....we will be selling some of our products online as well as in person at Open House on June 29th.
6/16 Production day in full swing.....WOW, did they work great together! Though they are a little disappointed about being "in the red" still, I think they are really beginning to understand the business process. Tomorrow we will add a few new items to our sales plate (smoothies, tin foil crash cars), all while keeping an eye on how our other items are doing.
6/15 Wow, what an amazing two days we have had and it's only going to get better from here! Today the group decided to support Ocean Clean-Up and Feed My Starving Children. They will be donating a total of 30% of their profits to these two charities at the end of Project SEEK.
Some big business decisions were made today. We will be in FULL production mode tomorrow, making the following to sell at the Snack Shop: iron bead forms, rubberband bracelets, tin foil crash cars (be sure to ask your child about these!), stress balls, and slime!
They will also be selling smoothies, lemonade, frosted sugar cookies, and muffin bites.
As you can see, these young entrepreneurs will be VERY busy during our production time tomorrow.
Here are a few pictures from today.....
Hello fellow entrepreneurs!!!
I hope that you are prepared for a fun-filled time at S.E.E.K. this year, as we will be operating the SEEK store as well as developing and selling some of our own product ideas.
Your “homework” assignment before we see each other on June 14th, is to think of a few ideas that our “business” can develop, market, and sell. While you are thinking of these ideas, please write down the supplies that we would need to make the product and any ideas that you would have for marketing (promoting) the product.
On the first day, please bring the following to class: your idea sheet, a pencil and a spiral notebook to write other ideas in. I will provide you with a binder for our time together, that way we will all stay organized and have our business materials all in one place! Also, as “business owners”, we would like to see a smile and a positive attitude each day!!!
Until June 14th, enjoy the sunshine! If you have further questions, please contact me by phone at (218) 380-7251 or by email at sspray@isd2144.org.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Spray
