Last Day!
We had so much fun these last 12 days! What an adventure! Please come back next year so we can see your faces again!
Day 11
We are all ready for open house tonight! Please come from 5-7 tonight to come see all our hard work we did over the last three weeks!
Day 10
We started working on our final research animal poster. We are writing down all the cool facts we have learned about our animals on our poster!
Day 9
We are started to create the backgrounds in our diorama for our final animal research project! We are using paint, paper, felt, tissue paper, cardboard, yarn....to add some 3D elements!
Field Trip
We had so much fun on our field trip to Interstate State Park! First the Minnesota Forestry came and showed us their fire truck and all terrain vehicle. We learned how they fight forest fires and even got to spray the water hose. Next we went for a hike, ate lunch, and did a scavenger hunt. Lastly we met with Naturalist Jenni to learn about how the characteristics of beavers make them so successful at building dams. We even tried making our own beaver dams!
When: Thursday, June 23rd
Where: Interstate Park
What to bring: LUNCH, water bottle, good shoes for walking all day, sun screen, bug spray, sun glasses, hat (last 4 are strong suggestions)
We will head out to Interstate State Park in the morning on Thursday once students arrive to Project SEEK for the day. We will have a fun day planned with many outdoor activities for students! We will be contacting parents tomorrow (Tuesday) for chaperoning (please note not every chaperone who signed up will be able to attend).
Day 7:
Today we started researching animals for our final projects. We were super hard at work on our research!
Day 6:
Today we moved north (and south) to the Arctic (and Antarctica)! We learned about which animals live there and what they eat. We also learned about the special layer of fat that some animals have called blubber. We did an awesome science experiment to test our hypothesis of - will our hands stay warm or cold with blubber when dipped into freezing, icy water? Take a look below for our pictures from today!
Day 5
Today we learned more about the rainforest, the food chain in the rainforest, and food chains in other habitats. We played a game where we each played the different roles of the food chain: consumer, producer, and decomposer. At the end of the day we started creating our own food chains.
Day 4:
Today we ventured out of the ocean and into the rainforest! We learned about the 4 different layers and which animals live in each layer. We created a giant rainforest mural and we each painted 1 animal for the mural.
Day 3:
Whew, Project SEEK is FLYING by!
Today, we learned about coral reefs and the animals that live there. Can you believe the Great Barrier Reef is as big as 70 million football fields! We learned about different animals that live there and how we can protect it. Today our art project was creating our own mini coral reef ecosystems. Check out the pictures below to see the process!
Pool noodle coral reef sculptures!
Day 2:
Second day of Project SEEK is going swimmingly! We started our day by learning about the 3 different ocean zones. We put on our science hats and created our own ocean zone science experiment! Then, we practiced our knowledge about the ocean zones and creatures by playing an ocean zone game in the gym. Finally, we created fantastic art work with the ocean zones.
Take a look below at our day!
Science experiment ocean layers!
More ocean zones!
Day 1,
We are excited to start Animal Adventures! Today we worked on creating a positive classroom environment by making classroom rules, decorating our room, and playing games. We started to learn about different animal habitats!
