Dungeons and Dragons

Welcome to D&D!

I'll be updating this as we draw nearer to the start dates of SEEK 2021, but in the meantime I would say that there are two things that students will need to get things rolling. 

Firstly, they should create a DnDBeyond.com account.  This can be created using a Gmail or Twitch account.  A free account will allow them to create 2-6 characters. They should feel free to explore creating a character if they want, but we will need at least one of those characters for SEEK 2021, and they will create it from scratch then (they will have access to much more variety and choices when we start together).

Secondly, they will be connecting to our class through Zoom. This can be accessed for free through an internet browser on the computer, or through an app on a mobile device.  We will connect and play through this. 

During our typical day they will open zoom and connect. We'll socialize a bit while we get everyone together, then start our session.  We will split into two groups for adventures and projects.  While one group is doing the adventure part, the other will be working on a project.  We'll take a snack break and switch.  Near the end of our day we'll all regroup in zoom to share our daily projects, and to just socialize about what happened in each group. 

Currently we are planning to spend a day on character development and picking miniatures.  My hope is to order these and then we will figure out addresses so that they can be mailed to you.  Additional details about this will be shared as more is learned.

I hope that everyone is staying safe, and I thank you for choosing to participate this year as we do what we can to enrich your lives.  A lot of this will be kind of weird and new for everyone, but I'm sure we will all have the best of times!

To Monday, and beyond!  ...

So as we get ready to begin, I'll be reaching out to each of you on Monday.  I'm hoping to make sure we can all get into Zoom, and have DnDBeyond.com ready to go.  I'm also happy to answer any questions you might have before we begin our journey.

The zoom meeting ID we will be using for SEEK 2021 is 986 5823 0409.  You can either go to zoom and enter this in, or use the join link: https://zoom.us/j/98658230409.  This meeting will require a password to make sure random people aren't joining us.  I will give this password when I connect with you on Monday.  You can either bookmark that link, or use it from this page each day.

On Tuesday, my hope is to get to know each other and find out what everyone is hoping to do on this adventure and then figure out what exactly everyone will be playing.  This is often referred to as a "session zero".  We will then probably go to reapermini.com to select a miniature for our character.
