2-3
Do you love animals? Come along on our Animal Adventure! We will be traveling to four different habitats: the ocean, rainforest, forest, and arctic! We will be exploring cool and unique animals that live in each habitat. Along our adventure, we will be creating amazing artwork using clay, paint and more! We will also be constructing fun science experiments, so get ready! It is not recommended to take this course a second time.

Ellie McElhenny: I am thrilled to be a part of SEEK again this year! I have taught ESL in St. Paul for the past 7 years. Before teaching in St. Paul, I was teaching abroad in South Korea for three and a half years. I have taught a variety of ages (preschool - eighth grade) and subjects (Science, Art, Literacy, English, Phonics) in my time in Korea and Minnesota! In my free time I enjoy camping, traveling, and trying different restaurants.
Kirsten Mace: I am so excited to be part of SEEK again this year! I have taught the last year at Mora Elementary and the past 5 years at Hinckley Elementary School as the Art teacher. Before teaching at Hinckley, I was teaching in Seoul, South Korea as an Art, Science, and English teacher. In my free time I enjoy traveling, hiking, and sewing

Last day of Project SEEK!
We had so much fun the past few weeks, we are sad for SEEK to end! We celebrated the day with an ice cream and game party.
Today we got ready for the Open House! We hung up all of our projects and cleaned the room.
We are ready for parents to see what we have done at SEEK!
See everyone from 5pm-7pm tonight.
Today we continued with our final projects! We spent the morning adding 3D elements to our habitat dioramas, finishing up our posters, and clay animals.
We are really looking forward to showing off all of our fun projects during Open House on Thursday night.
Today we continued with our final projects! We spent the morning dyeing and molding our clay to look like an animal. Then, we spent the afternoon making posters that will have interesting facts about our animals.
We are SO excited to show them off during Open House on Thursday night.
Today we started researching for our final projects! We all chose one animal from the habitat of our choice and used chromebooks to research cool facts about our animals.
See photos below of how we spent our day!
Today we learned about the Arctic and the Antarctic! We discussed which animals lived in both places, what they eat, and what they need to survive. We conducted an experiment using the scientific method. Our experiment posed the question "will my hand be cold or warm in the blubber?" We made predictions, did our experiment, recorded our results, and then discussed what we learned about blubber.
In the afternoon we made Venn Diagrams comparing and contrasting the Arctic with the Antarctic.

Today we had a field trip! We went to Wild River State Park. We met with naturalist Jordan who took us on a hike where we learned a lot about different plants and animals, including different types of woodpeckers!
In the afternoon, we were joined by a group of wildlife firefighters. They showed us their gear and taught us a lot of fun information about their jobs.

Today we started off in the rainforest by finishing up our giant rainforest murals! We added our animals - the murals turned out awesome.
Then, we moved into learning all about food chains - we discussed producers, consumers, decomposers, carnivores, omnivores, herbivores, predators, prey! After snack we played a producer, consumer, and decomposer game outside, and then came back inside to make our own food chains.

Week 2 is off to a great start!
Today we ventured to the rainforest. We learned all about the 4 layers of the rainforest, including the animals that call it home. For art today, we first chose one animal to draw and then watercolor. After snack we went outside to play an animal game!
We worked together in groups in the afternoon to create two giant rainforest murals! We will add our water colored rainforest animal to our mural!

Day 3 was so much fun!
Today we stayed in the ocean, but traveled to the coral reef! In the morning, we finished our ocean layer paintings from yesterday. Then, we learned all about what a coral reef is made of, which animals live here, and we watched a video about the Great Barrier Reef. We made a scuplture today during art of coral reefs. Students spent time cutting up pool noodles to use as coral. They also added fish and different species to their coral!

Day 2 was a success!
We traveled to the ocean today. We learned all about the different layers of the ocean and which animals live in each layer. For science, we created our very own mini layers of the ocean in water bottles using water, oil, and a little food coloring. For art, we also created our own layers of the ocean painting, complete with water colored animals in each layer.
It was a super fun day today!
Yay! Our first day at SEEK 2025 went so well! We started off our day by getting to know each other and our favorite animals. We took a tour of the school to get familiar with our surroundings, made some class posters, and then started to learn about habitats in the afternoon!
Take a look below at some of the fun we had today!
