Students have learned about and how to write in the oldest written language known as Cuneiform. Students created a clay tablet and wrote their names in Cuneiform. We traveled to Northern Africa to ancient Egypt. We have learned about King Tut, Egyptian gods and goddess, the geography of Egypt and the importance of the Nile. We learned about mummification and practices techniques on apples! We have created our own god/goddess based on what we have learned from Egyptian culture. Architects created their own sugar cube pyramids to replicate the Pyramids of Giza. We research Ancient Egyptian rules such as Queen Hatshepsut and Ramses The Great and created informational posters of them. Lastly we created paintings for our gods and goddess.
We traveled to the science museum in St. Paul to see a real mummy! Student also got to see a recreation of a Mayan temple which we will be learning about next week.
