Self Portrait

This creation is a self portrait. I drew myself from a digital image. I started by taking a selfie in front of a white wall, then I printed the image and used it to draw myself using charcoal and ink, and blending using other materials. I chose to create this drawing because I wanted to have a white background with multiple dark and light spots on my face. In this piece of work, there is lots of blending, shading, measuring, and sizing. I had to make a grid on both the digital image of my face and the one I drew so I could have a reference of where to draw the features of my face. Also I used blending and shading everywhere. Everywhere it is dark or light. This all started as a picture on my phone. I printed the picture, drew the picture, did lots to draw the picture and now it is what it is. This drawing has 15 years of stories, even though it started as an image on a phone. This drawing is very familiar isn’t it? Well of course it is, it’s me! I think if I had taken more time to work on it, and taken my time while working on it, it would look a bit better. I will work on being more patient when drawing and making the drawings as accurate as possible.
