Color Study

This project was made to show that I have an understanding of the different colors, and to show that I have the capability to distinguish between the colors and mix/blend the colors together to make different shades and tints of the colors. Well, I started out by outlining all the shapes and then started with the primary colors, painted 3 shapes then I did the shades and tints of each of those colors, then proceeded to doing the same for all of the other colors, tertiary, and secondary. I also blow dried each of the colors to speed up the process. I chose to do a a snowboard because I wanted to be out of the ordinary. Everyone was doing canvas and I wanted to do something different. Snowboard popped in my head and so I did a snowboard, along with a friend. In this piece there is a lot of arrangement of colors to make the appearance of the board going from dark to light/showing the front of the board from the back. I also just wanted to add a cool effect to the painting to make it more interesting than just paint. Well, I started out with multiple sketches of how I would paint the board, but I never went with any of those ideas and instead made a whole new idea whilst sketching on the board. Then over many weeks, I applied the paint and eventually finished. And throught the painting I changed some of the colors. Well, this board I painted used to be my dads board when he was younger and it was becoming to be junk, so, I thought I would ‘bring it back to life’ and freshen it up with a new doo. Like I said above, this board used to be my dads when he was younger and I wanted to ‘reincarnate’ it so I decided I would paint it. I think this piece could have less white spots in between colors, so I think to fix that I could outline the different shapes with silver and remake the colors and fix the white spots.
