Art of reduction: Scratch Board

This is a scratchboard image of my new puppy, Zeke. It is him sleeping on the floor, being cute. Well, I got a piece of scratchboard and a couple metal scratchers and outlined the drawing then continued to scratch the drawing. I chose to create this because it had the dark and light values I needed in the drawing and it was just cute as well as pretty straight forward. In this piece of art I show that I can scratch away a material to make a larger picture using negative space. It started as a black piece of scratch board, then slowly evolved into the puppy, starting with the floor and the outline of the puppy. This piece is a scratchboard drawing of my dog, and the image is of him two days after I first met him. He was still tiny and adorable, so I figured I would scratch an image of him. As mentioned a few times, the puppy in the photo is my dog Zeke. I think I could put more detail into his body to make it show some different values where those values are, even though they are faint.
