B+W Animal

The subject is a puffin the setting is on a rock with cloudy skies. It was made using acrylic paint. I chose to make this because I wanted to do another Maine animal to go with the lobster. The solid blocks of color and clean lines were what I wanted to do because I like the look of it more than the more messy way other people paint. The project is composed with a puffin in the center formally balanced.

The techniques used are the simple sharp lines and the use of only a few colors instead of tons of shading. This evolved from me wanting to do it with the paint sticks but that was just going to take too long so I decided to do it in a medium that I am better at using.

The story behind it is that i like Maine and I like the ascetic of Maine and the symbols that it has and that is why I wanted to do another Maine animal to go with my lobster. It relates to my life because I've lived in Maine all my life. I Might go back in and make the colors more solid so that you can't see the brush strokes.
