Remote & Home Learning
Remote & Home Learning
At Lathom Park CE Primary, we understand that learning doesn’t only happen inside the classroom. When remote learning is needed—whether for individual children, small groups, or during wider school closures—we are committed to making sure that every child continues to feel supported, included, and part of our school family.
EYFS:
For our youngest learners in Early Years, remote learning is designed to be practical, playful, and manageable for families. We keep things simple, clear, and flexible so that children can continue developing key skills through meaningful experiences at home. We recognise that Early Years learning is rooted in play, exploration and interaction. That’s why our remote learning focuses on real-life learning through everyday experiences—baking, building, nature walks, storytelling and imaginative play.
Our approach includes:
Daily learning suggestions shared online, including phonics, maths, stories, and creative tasks;
Videos from teachers, including stories, songs, and learning prompts to keep children feeling connected;
Regular check-ins with families, offering guidance, encouragement and tailored support;
Home learning packs with practical resources such as books, mark-making materials, number cards and play ideas;
Wellbeing support for children and parents, including phone calls, virtual story times and wellness challenges.
Key Stage 1 and 2:
When remote learning is needed, we ensure that children in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 continue to receive a high-quality, engaging and supportive learning experience.
We recognise that older children are ready to take more ownership of their learning, but we also know that encouragement, routine and connection are key. Our remote learning offer is designed to be flexible, achievable, and responsive to the needs of our children and families.
Daily learning tasks across core subjects (English, Maths, Reading, Topic/Science), matched to the classroom curriculum;
Live or recorded lessons and messages from class teachers to keep children connected and engaged;
Regular feedback on work submitted through online platforms, email or return of paper-based tasks;
Home learning packs including stationery, books and printed resources for those needing offline access;
Opportunities for creativity and enrichment, such as art, PE, PSHE and wellbeing activities;
Weekly class check-ins or assemblies to keep the sense of community strong and offer children a chance to share and reflect.
We work closely with parents and carers to ensure remote learning is manageable, supportive and realistic. Regular contact helps us adjust provision, offer individual support, and make sure no child is left behind.
Whether a child is isolating at home or learning remotely during a wider closure, our priority is to keep them connected—to their learning, their teachers, their friends, and their school.
At Lathom Park, we believe that no matter where learning takes place, every child should feel valued, encouraged and supported to thrive. Most importantly, we are here for our children and families every step of the way—whether learning takes place at school or at home. Our aim is to keep children smiling, learning, and feeling part of the Lathom Park family—no matter where they are.
