NEWS: Parent Evening Week 9th March
At Lathom Park Primary School, our aim in Computing is to equip all children with the knowledge and ever-evolving digital skills needed to succeed, communicate and thrive throughout their education and future lives. We intend for pupils to become confident, creative and responsible users of technology who can make positive contributions both within school and in the wider world. Through our computing curriculum, children develop an understanding of digital systems, programming, information technology and online safety, ensuring they are prepared for an increasingly technological society.
Our creative and progressive computing curriculum has been carefully designed and regularly reviewed to meet the needs of our pupils and their families. Lessons are sequenced to build knowledge and skills over time, covering computer science, digital literacy and information technology. Pupils are given opportunities to problem-solve, code, create digital content and work collaboratively. Online safety is embedded throughout the curriculum and reinforced through assemblies, themed days and classroom discussion, ensuring children understand how to stay safe and behave respectfully online.
As a result, pupils at Lathom Park Primary School develop the confidence and competence to use technology effectively and responsibly. They can apply their computing skills across the curriculum and demonstrate creativity when designing and developing digital projects. Children show a clear understanding of online safety and respectful digital behaviour, both in and out of school. Through computing, pupils are well-prepared for the next stage of their education and for participation in an increasingly digital world
