NEWS: Parent Evening Week 9th March
At Lathom Park Primary School, our Religious Education curriculum aims to enable children to explore what it means to be human and support their personal search for meaning. We intend to challenge and inspire pupils from an early age through exploration, questioning and reflection on issues of right and wrong, as well as the different worldviews present in religions and beliefs. Our curriculum encourages children to develop curiosity, respect and tolerance, helping them understand and appreciate the diversity of faiths, cultures and values in our society.
The RE curriculum is carefully sequenced to build knowledge and understanding progressively from EYFS to Year 6. Children engage with key concepts, sacred texts, practices and beliefs from a range of world religions, alongside opportunities to reflect on their own experiences and ideas. Lessons include discussion, enquiry, reflection and practical activities, encouraging critical thinking and personal expression. RE is taught both discretely and through cross-curricular links, fostering meaningful connections to pupils’ lives and experiences.
As a result, pupils at Lathom Park Primary School develop an informed understanding of the beliefs, traditions and values that shape human experience. They demonstrate respect, empathy and tolerance for others and can reflect thoughtfully on moral and ethical questions. Children are prepared not only for secondary education but also for life in a diverse and pluralistic society, leaving school as reflective, thoughtful and open-minded individuals.
