The March is a continent encompassing everything to the North of the Grass Plains of Terris. Below you'll find an overview of the continent's major powers, their interactions with the Empire, and the territory they control.

The Rivlans are one of the native peoples of the March alongside the Vadurkin.
Prior to the Hadrian-Rivlan War, the Rivlans were a fractured and disorganized network of independent city states and occasional feudal baronies who had consolidated power.
In this new post-war era their lands have been divided into two distinct parts: the Western regions which are a vassal state of the Empire, and the Eastern regions that remain in open rebellion.

The Vadurkin are one of the native peoples of the March alongside the Rivlans, hailing from the frozen North.
To an outside observer, it is easy to categorize the Vadurkin as nothing more than cuthroats, raiders, savages, and oathbreakers. For centuries they raided Rivlan holds, and in Spring of 1022 they broke a solemn vow sealed by the exchange of coin to aid the Empire in battle against the aligned forces of the Rivlans and Suzak-Mar. Instead they threw their lot with them, leaving the Imperial contingent to be slaughtered upon the battlefield.
Yet to do so is to ignore the deep social ties between the many clans and rich culture of its people. Their abrasiveness is little more than an adaptation to the harsh and unforgiving places they call home.
The Vadurkin now look tepidly towards the Empire and its affairs, many considering them unwelcome interlopers or a threat to their very existence.

The Suzak-Mar are a syncretic culture formed by the various populations of refugees from the Lost Continent who have settled along the Eastern coast and hinterlands of the March.
Once a continent to rival the March, the Lost Continent was found far to the East across the sea now known as the Broken Strait. Many nations and peoples called this place home.
Myriad crises whose origin is still unknown forced the many nations to set aside their differences and flee their homelands. Some would claim the Void itself consumed the land and it should serve as example to why the Empire must unify the land.
In honor of their lost homeland, they would rename themselves the Suzak-Mar, or the Phoenix of the Sands.
