Outreach Programmes 2024-25

The students of F.Y.B.Ed visited various community centres across vasai and suburbs of vasai. Every day they planned for various activities at their respective centres. They engaged with meaningful games and playful activities with the children. Visits to various old age homes helped them sensitize to the needs of the people in the society, and how they as youth could play a pivotal role. The students whole heartedly planned and participated actively in the various activities held at the community centres. This experience helped the students to deepen their understanding of empathy and patience, reinforcing the importance of community service in education.

The F.Y.B.Ed students visited the sick and the aged people in their vicinity. The volunteered for reading stories, helping them with their daily hygiene such as cutting their nails, combing their hair and sometimes simply talking to them. The students felt a sense of belonging with these people. They would wait each day to spend time with our students. It was an emotional experience for our students. It is essential to create awareness in this increasingly disconnected world to have humane beliefs and care for the aged in our society.

The F.Y.B.Ed of the batch 2023-25 students planned to teach school students from their community. They planned for various activities teaching basic grammar and writing skills, basic arithmetic operations. The students planned their activities to have one on one face to face interactions with the children. Some of the students helped the children of their daily helpers, maids, watchmen etc. This was indeed a great learning experience for the students as it gave them a first-hand teaching experience. It also helped them sensitized to the needs of the less privileged children of the society. This helped the students to develop a sense of gratitude for their privileges.

The F.Y.B. Ed students visited St. Elizabeth convents school to render help to the school girls with their homework and daily routine. The students planned various activities across different age groups and grades. They planned for basic grammar lessons and simple mathematical operations to be taught to the students. They also conducted a session on yoga for the girls of St. Elizabeth convent. They highlighted and emphasized on the importance of sanitation and hygiene to the students. The students of our college overall had an enriching experience.

On February 3rd, a Beach Cleaning drive was organized for the F.Y.B.ED students at Suruchi beach. Mr. Lisbon Ferrao, a passionate advocate for beach cleanliness, led the initiative. He shared his reasons for caring about the beach and explained how litter harms marine life and nature. His stories inspired the students, showing how small actions can make a big difference for the environment. As the students started cleaning, they were amazed by how much trash covered the shore. Plastic bottles, wrappers, and other garbage littered the sand, showing how careless people can be. Mr. Lisbon informed the students about mangroves plantation across the shores and how it prevents soil erosion. It was indeed an impactful and eye-opening experience for the students.

The students of F.Y.B.Ed visited Abhang Bhavan in Umela, Naigaon, where they were warmly welcomed by Ms. Cynthia Baptista and Fr. Michael, the directors of the institution. They shared their personal stories with the students and the heartfelt reasons behind starting this special school and workshop for mentally challenged individuals. Their dedication to making a difference in the lives of others was truly inspiring. The students were amazed by the various facilities offered at the school, such as the children's park and the exciting educational trips organized for the children of Abhang Bhavan. Spending time with the students at Abhang Bhavan was a truly enriching experience. Despite facing challenges, the children there were filled with enthusiasm and a strong desire to learn and grow. They had also created different articles like paper bags, drawings and so much more creativity. The nurturing environment created by Ms. Baptista and Fr. Michael fostered a sense of belonging and support among the children, emphasizing the importance of empathy and understanding. As our students departed, they were filled with gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful cause and inspired to continue advocating for the rights and dignity of all individuals, regardless of their abilities.

On 2nd October 2024, Beach clean drive was organized by Luna Story Foundation led by Mr. Lisbon Ferrao and Ms. Zuzzana Ferrao. 2nd of October is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti Diwas as it marks the birthday of the father of our nation Mahatma Gandhi. Various schools across vasai were a part of the cleanliness drive on that day. Our F.Y.B.Ed students of the batch 2024-26 volunteered for beach cleanliness drive. There was a spirit of enthusiasm and oneness among everyone present there. Mr. Lisbon along with the local municipality authorities had planned for cleanliness of different areas of the beach. Our students wholeheartedly were a part of the drive. They also provided with refreshments ad beverages to all the volunteers. It was indeed a successful initiative and our students were content and happy to be a part of the same.

The students had positive experiences and narratives to describe about their visit to different community centres.

The F.Y.B.Ed of the batch 2024-26 students planned to teach school students from their community. They planned for various activities teaching basic grammar and writing skills, basic arithmetic operations. Some of them also taught basic art work and computer skills. The students planned their activities to have one on one face to face interactions with the children. Some of the students helped the children of their daily helpers, maids, watchmen etc. This was indeed a great learning experience for the students as it gave them a first-hand teaching experience. It also helped them sensitized to the needs of the less privileged children of the society. This helped the students to develop a sense of gratitude for their privileges. The students of F.Y.B.Ed of the batch 2024-26 visited St. Xaviers English High School, Naigaon to celebrate International Disability Day organized by Abhang Bhavan. Various Schools were present to celebrate the event. The day began with a prayer service conducted by the students of St. Xaviers School. Our F.Y.B.Ed students planned for action songs and group performances. Ms. Jean Lemos was in charge for anchoring of the event. The day was full of dances and engaging games for the special children. The students of Rishi Valmiki performed a street play on “Rights of Persons with disability”. Our students Warner Dsouza and Father Akhil performed action songs for the students, who thoroughly enjoyed their day. Fr Micheal Gonsalves addressed the students to create awareness about creating an inclusive atmosphere for special children. The ended with a vote of thanks by Ms. Cynthia Baptista.

The students of F.Y.B.Ed  of the batch 2024-26 visited Dr. Shirishkar’s Kinjal Charitable trust  which is a home for the aged people of the society. It was a first time experience of visiting the aged and ailing people for many students. They planned for simple games like housie, dumb charades etc. Our students Fr. Akhil and Warner performed action songs for them. Indeed they added a spring of colours into their lives. It was indeed an emotional experience for the students as they spent their entire day for the old people at Kinjal who shared their words of wisdom with the students. The students left the organization with happy memories for the day.

The F.Y.B.Ed students visited St. Elizabeth convents school to render help to the school girls with their homework and daily routine. They also conducted a session on basic digital literary for the girls of St. Elizabeth convent. They highlighted and emphasized on the importance of sanitation and hygiene to the students. The students of our college overall had an enriching experience.

Mr Santosh Kakad from Save the Earth Foundation visited our college for the Plastic waste collection drive organized for the students. The students were informed one month prior to clean and store empty plastic cartons, wrappers, bottles and boxes that are produced as waste in their daily usage. They were informed to bring the collected material to college on 11th December 24. Mr. Kakad gave an insightful talk on the importance of plastic recycling and reusing. Save the Earth foundation recycles plastic wrappers and bottles into useful materials like tiles, decorative showpieces, handbags etc. The students actively participated and collected all the material in college. Mr. Santosh also gave informative measures to reduce plastic consumption in daily lives by using eco friendly materials. It was indeed a successful initiative and our students felt proud to be a part of help for Save the Earth Foundation.

The students of F.Y.B.Ed and S.Y.B.Ed visited Abhang Bhavan on 23rd Decemeber 2024 to celebrate the Christmas program organized for the students by Cynthia Baptista ma’am and Fr. Micheal Gonsalves. The students had planned for various activities for the students. The theme of entire programme was “Jesus in our everyday life”. The F.Y.B.Ed students enacted the Christmas tableau and the S.Y.B.Ed students enacts a skit titled “The Special Christmas”. The students bought some gifts for the children of Abhang Bhavan and spent their day with the children. It was indeed a joyous moment for the children as they celebrated their Christmas Program with great joy and cheer.

The students of S.Y.B.Ed of the batch 2023-25 visited various community centres across vasai and suburbs of vasai. They completed 30 hours of visit to the different community centres. Everday they planned for various activities at their respective centres. They engaged with meaningful games and playful activities with the children. Visits to various old age homes helped them sensitize to the needs of the people in the society, and how they as youth could play a pivotal role. The students whole heartedly planned and participated actively in the various activities held at the community centres.
