Volunteering Activities: Students regularly volunteered at charitable organisations such as orphanages, homes for the aged and centres for the differently abled. They organized entertainment programmes and assisted the residents with their tasks under the supervision of the center in charge. Senior citizens were assisted in their physiotherapy exercises. Some of the institutions where students have worked during the outreach programmes were Kinjal Charitable Trust Home for the aged, Handmaids of the Blessed Trinity Orphanage, Umed Foundation for Handicapped, Paranubhuti foundation and Shraddhanand Mahilashram.
Beach Cleaning: Beach cleaning activity was organized at Bhuigaon beach on 3 Feb 2024. The activity was organised in collaboration with Luna Story Foundation. Mr Lisbon Ferrao and Ms Zsusanna Ferrao environmentalists and promoters for clean beaches-oriented students about the need for clean beaches. Students cleaned the beach and the garbage of glass discards; plastic waste was separated for disposal by the local authorities.
Remedial Teaching activities: Students visited St.Elizabeth High School and conducted remedial classes and sessions for personality development for girls from marginalised families. Students worked in groups and mainly focused on basics in Mathematics and Languages as the girls needed help in these subjects.
Volunteering at Special Schools: Two visits were carried out to schools for challenged learners. On 7 Feb 2023, FYBEd students visited Abhang School and interacted with the special learners. They helped in the vocational training programme where the special learners made paper bags and other articles. On 21 March 2024, SYBEd students visited Umang Centre for special learners. The festival of Holi was celebrated with the special learners. Workshops in making craft, dance and drama were organised for the benefit of the special learners.
Annapurna Campaign: Students of FYBEd identified areas where there is much poverty and people often lack basic goods. The students appealed to local shopkeepers urging them to donate articles of daily use. Used clothes in good condition were collected from people in the more affluent neighbourhoods. All these were then distributed to those in need.
Women Empowerment Initiatives: One of the areas chosen for community work was Dongri area where there are many slums and migrant workers. There is much poverty and people lack knowlegde of health and hygiene. A group of students decided to conduct awareness prorgammes related to menstrual health. Dr. Shubhangi a local doctor was invited to conduct the menstrual awareness program for girls from marginalised areas.
World AIDS Day Rally: AIDS is a public health issue and solidarity in the face of this issue is significant. On 1 Dec 2024, students participated in a rally wherein they created general awareness about AIDS and the precautions to be taken to avoid getting infected by HIV. Slogans were raised to generate awareness.The rally aimed at raising awareness about HIV/AIDS, advocating for better healthcare access, and reducing the stigma surrounding the disease.
