Pushpanjali College of Education celebrated National Reading Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of P. N. Panicker, popularly known as the "Library Man of India." The assembly was conducted with the objective of promoting a culture of reading, encouraging lifelong learning, and paying tribute to the visionary who revolutionized the library movement in Kerala. In the year 2017, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the National Reading Day and Reading month celebrations during his visit to Kochi giving National recognition to the Reading Day observance. P. N. Panicker (1909–1995) was a visionary social reformer and educationist who dedicated his life to spreading literacy and establishing libraries across Kerala. He founded the Kerala Grandhasala Sangham (Kerala Library Association) in 1945, which played a pivotal role in creating an extensive network of public libraries throughout the state. His unwavering belief that "Read and Grow" inspired thousands to cultivate the habit of reading and self-learning. Owing to his extraordinary efforts, Kerala witnessed a remarkable transformation in literacy and public access to knowledge. In recognition of his invaluable contribution, the Government of India observes National Reading Day every year on 19th June, followed by Reading Week and various literacy promotion activities across the country.

Our F.Y.B.Ed student  Ms. Pranjali Khatate, spoke about the life, vision, and remarkable contributions of Puthuvayil Narayana Panicker (P. N. Panicker). Through her presentation, she explained the importance of reading in shaping informed, responsible, and enlightened citizens.

To make the celebration engaging and interactive, she organized a thought-provoking activity titled "Guess the Famous Quote." In this activity, students were presented with inspiring quotations from renowned writers, philosophers, educationists, and world leaders. Participants attempted to identify the personalities behind these timeless words while discussing their meanings and relevance. 

The activity witnessed active participation from the students, creating an atmosphere of curiosity, discussion, and healthy interaction. It reinforced the idea that reading is not merely an academic exercise but a gateway to knowledge, imagination, and personal growth. The programme also encouraged future teachers to cultivate reading habits among their own students and to recognize libraries as vibrant centres of learning.

On 12th January 2026, the institution commemorated the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, observed nationwide as National Youth Day. The event was organized to instil values of self-confidence, discipline, and service among students, in line with Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy. To observe this day, the following activities were conducted: a motivational talk on the life and ideals of Swami Vivekananda, and dissemination of messages on Swadeshi and self- reliance. 

“Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat” is a nationwide campaign aimed at creating awareness about the harmful effects of child marriage and promoting the rights, education, and well-being of children. In support of this noble initiative, Pushpanjali College of Education, Vasai (Papdy) actively organized and conducted a series of awareness activities to educate students and the community about the importance of eliminating child marriage and building a progressive society. On 7th November, Pushpanjali College of Education organised a series of activities to celebrate 150 years of the National Song “Vande Mataram.” The day was filled with patriotic fervour as students and faculty came together to honour the song’s rich legacy and its role in India’s freedom struggle. Activities that were conducted were mass singing of the National Song Vande Mataram at 10.30, a quiz on celebrating 150 years of Vande Mataram, & Special Assembly on the celebration of 150 years of the National Song Vande Mataram. 

 The Constitution Day celebration held on 26th November 2025 was observed with great enthusiasm and respect to honour the adoption of the Indian Constitution. The program aimed to highlight the significance of the day and to instil constitutional values among students and staff. various activities like Mass Reading of the Preamble to the Constitution may be organized at 11:00 A.M. on 26th November, 2025, Reading of the Preamble to the Constitution in different Indian languages on "constitution75. com" and "MyGov.in", Participation in online Quiz on Constitutional Democracy through '’MyGov.in", Special Assembly on Celebration of Constitution Day on 26th November, 2025 etc. wachhhata Pakhw

As part of the nationwide initiative “Swachata Pakhwada”, Pushpanjali College organized a series of activities to spread awareness about cleanliness, hygiene, and responsible waste management. The programme aimed at sensitising students towards the importance of maintaining a clean environment and contributing to the vision of a cleaner and healthier India. Students and faculty actively participated in activities like the Exhibition of Waste to Wealth, Cleanliness of nearby Villages and college premises, Plantation Drive, Mass Pledge on Swachhata etc., making it a collaborative effort towards promoting the value of cleanliness in daily life.

Mass Awareness Programme for Nasha Mukt Bharat

As part of its commitment to social awareness and nation-building, Pushpanjali College of Education actively participated in the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan by organizing a rally involving B.Ed. students. The initiative aimed to spread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and to promote a healthy, addiction-free lifestyle among the community. The programme helped students develop social responsibility, leadership skills, and confidence while contributing positively to society. The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan rally proved to be a meaningful and successful effort in reinforcing the message of a healthier and addiction-free India.

Assembly conducted on creating awareness on Nasha Mukt Bharat on 25th November 2025

An assembly was successfully conducted at Pushpanjali College of Education by S.Y. B.Ed. student Ms. Fatema Indorwala with the objective of fostering discipline, moral values, and positive thinking among students. Ms. Fatema Indorwala confidently anchored the assembly and ensured smooth coordination of all activities. Faculty members appreciated her efforts and guidance was provided throughout the programme. The assembly proved to be a meaningful learning experience, helping students develop confidence, communication skills, leadership qualities, and a sense of responsibility, which are essential attributes for future educators.

Beach Clean-Up Drive Report

On the occasion of International Coastal Cleanliness Day, the S.Y.B.Ed students from Pushpanjali College of Education, accompanied by Ms. Steffi Colaco, faculty member, actively participated in a beach clean-up drive at Suruchi Beach. The initiative was organized by Vasai Virar Shahar Mahanagar Palika in collaboration with Make a Difference, a dedicated NGO working towards environmental protection . The event was graced by the chief guest, Mr. M.M. Suryavanshi, Ayukt of Vasai Virar Mahanagar Palika, who addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of coastal cleanliness.

Various local organizations, including NGOs, Mahila Bhachat Kendra, and students from different schools and colleges, came together to support the cause. Volunteers were divided into specific zones for the beach cleanliness drive. The students from Pushpanjali College were assigned Zone 4, where they enthusiastically took part in segregating and collecting plastic waste, contributing meaningfully to the cleanliness of the coastline. To ensure the safety and hygiene of all participants, the organizers provided T-shirts, masks, gloves, and sanitizers. In addition to the clean-up, various awareness activities such as street plays and elocution competitions were held, all centered around the theme of coastal cleanliness.  The day concluded with students and volunteers leaving with a sense of pride and a renewed committment to protecting and preserving our natural surroundings.

Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan was launched in 2019 as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary. Pushpanjali College of Education has contributed to this flagship programme through cleanliness activities  such as clean beach campaigns and cleaning of one's neighblurhoods. Students have also collaborated with NGOs working towards safe disposal of plastic and they have spread awareness of the dangers of single use plastic.  Alternatives like use of cloth bag have been promoted through lessons during the Nai talim /VENTEL cell activities . 

Special Assemblies and talks are conducted  on World AIDS Day.  Skits are presented to spread awareness about the same.

Digital India is a flagship programme of the Government of India with a vision to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.  Pushpanjali College of Education believes in E Power to Empower. During the pandemic we trained more than 500 school teachers to adapt to online teaching.  The college regularly orgaises sessions on Intellectual Property Rights and conducts value added courses on E content Development and Apps in Education. 

Students have completed the AI Awareness and AI Appreciate levels of the AI for all Initiative of CBSE and  Intel . The courses are part of Digital India programme.
