Co-curricular Activities 2020-21

Independence Day was celebrated in online mode on 15 Aug 2020. Students conducted an assembly highlighting the freedom struggle. Patriotic songs were presented. Students paid tributes to the unsung heroes of the pandemic who were risking their lives to ensure health for all. Principal Dr Mabel Pimenta addressed the students. Two online competitions were held for the students. Under the theme ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ students posted some unique features of India on Padlet.


Teachers’ day was observed in online mode due to the prevailing lockdown. Students coordinated and presented a very creative programme comprising of a prayer service, songs, dances and speeches. Entertaining online games were organized for the teachers. Video messages by alumni were also shared. Ms Heather Gabriel Co-curricular activities in charge guided the students. 

Pushpanjali Day was celebrated on 1 Oct 2020. A drama depicting the life of St Therese was presented through videos. Students conducted the prayer service and elucidated the virtues of St Therese. The quotes of St Therese are highly inspiring and these were displayed to lead everyone into self-reflection. Ms Heather Gabriel guided the students.

15 October was observed as Vachan Prerna Diwas 

The programme for Mathematics day was held on 14 Jan 2021. The programme was organized by Pushpaganit Mathematics Club under the guidance of Ms Angelina Nunes and Ms Nikita Rebello. The programme included information on Srinivas Ramanujam in whose honour we celebrate the day. The significance of Mathematics was duly elucidated and then we had an interesting time as we solved puzzles and took part in mathematics quiz and games.          


International Women's Day was observed on 8 March 2021. Our students then enacted the lives of four trailblazers Savitribai Phule, Dr Anandibai Joshi, Madame Curie and Mother Mary Veronica. Thereafter we had our guest speaker Ms Sneha DSouza share her journey of women empowerment. Sneha reiterated the importance of having faith in oneself and pursuing one's vision unceasingly. As an epitome of hard work, unwavering faith in one's dream and a mind with a sharp focus, Sneha truly inspired us all with her sharing. Manager Sr Ansela shared her message with the students and Dr Mabel Pimenta proposed the vote of thanks. 

International Yoga Day was observed on 21 June 2021. Our student Ms Riya Dcunha was the Resource Person. Ms Riya has completed her training in Hatha Yoga and Asthanga Yoga. She is also into gymnastics. After a very informative assembly on Yoga and its benefits, Ms Riya conducted a session where students participated and practised various asanas and pranayam. Students learned various asanas and their benefits to the body. The resource person also elucidated the importance of a nutritious and healthy diet. She explained the importance of proper breathing exercises and gave valuable tips to use the same daily.

Management Day -Feast Day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was observed on 16 July 2021.The day was observed with a prayer service and was followed by a programme that highlighted the significance of the day. The sisters from the Convent of Our Lady of Grace were felicitated on the day and their contribution to women education for the past 75 years was highlighted.


The online celebration of Independence Day began with a prayer and students invoked the blessings of god on the country and its people. Students presented the lives of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Veer Savarkar and Sarojini Naidu. One student enacted the role of Bharat Mata and expressed the feelings that Mother India must be experiencing on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day. Patriotic songs were presented and a dance sequence displayed the richness of our country. 

Teachers' Day : A common celebration for all teachers in the Our Lady of Grace Convent Complex was held on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. The students of S.Y.B.Ed coordinated the entire programme that included a prayer service followed by entertainment. Dances, songs and games were creatively integrated into the programme. Teachers had some fun time as students conducted some games for them.

Hindi Day is celebrated on 14 Sept every year to commemorate the day the Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi as the official language of the Republic of India in 1949. In a very informative session scripted by Ms. Shailja Kanodia and presented by Ms Poornima Shenoy we were oriented about the richness of Hindi language and the origin of Hindi Day.

On 9 Sept 2021, we had an assembly that highlighted the significance of Ganesh Utsav that is celebrated all over Maharashtra with great pomp. Students Ms Siddhi Lotlikar and Ms Shruti Virarkar elucidated the various customs associated with the festival and also exhorted us to celebrate the festival in an ecofriendly manner.


1 October is the Feast Day of St Therese, the patron saint of the college and hence the day is observed as Pushpanjali Day. A prayer service was first held to mark the day. Thereafter students presented the life of St Therese using a combination of videos, songs, dance and narration. One student presented a mono acting on the life of St Therese. A short message was given by Principal Dr Mabel Pimenta. The programme was guided by Sr Sujata Marvi and Ms Heather Gabriel.


Gandhi Jayanti was observed on 2 October 2021 through a prayer service. This was followed by recalling milestones in   Gandhiji’s life and cherishing his values. A dance performance and mono act presented on Gandhiji’s life teachings were part of the programme. Principal Dr Mabel Pimenta gave a short message exhorting everyone to follow Gandhiji’s principles. Further students participated in Swaach Bharat Abhiyaan. As there were strict protocols being followed due to the pandemic, this cleanliness drive was carried out in one’s own vicinity.
