Visit to St. Gonsalo Garcia College, Vasai (W) for Exhibition

On 19th January 2026, the students visited St. Gonsalo Garcia College, Vasai (W) to attend an Economics Exhibition organized by their Department of Economics. The educational visit was arranged with the objective of enhancing students' understanding of various economic concepts. The exhibition showcased a wide range of charts, posters, elements. During the visit, our students actively interacted with the exhibitors, observed the displays with keen interest, and gained valuable insights into contemporary economic issues and their relevance in everyday life. The resourceful explanations provided by the presenters helped in simplifying complex concepts. The students returned with enhanced knowledge, fresh perspectives, and greater enthusiasm for integrating innovative teaching-learning practices into their future profession.

Session on World Consumers’ Day

On 16th March 2026, the students conducted an awareness session on the occasion of World Consumers’ Day to educate participants about consumer rights and responsibilities. The programme featured an engaging skit depicting common consumer frauds and deceptive marketing practices. Through the skit, students highlighted the precautions consumers should take and the appropriate steps to follow if they become victims of fraud. The session also provided valuable information on the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 explaining the rights of consumers and the mechanisms available for seeking redressal of grievances. To make the programme interactive, the students conducted an activity in which participants identified genuine and fake brand logos, creating awareness about counterfeit products. Another practical demonstration illustrated how food adulteration takes place and discussed simple methods to detect common adulterants in everyday food items. The session was informative, engaging, and successful in promoting consumer awareness and encouraging participants to become informed and responsible consumers.

Field Visit to Reserve Bank of India Monetary Museum

On 9th April 2026, Ms. Sanika Asolkar arranged a Field Visit for the students to Reserve Bank of India Monetary Museum at Churchgate with the objective of providing them with an in-depth understanding of the history and evolution of India's monetary system. The visit commenced with an informative documentary that traced the journey of Indian currency from ancient times to the present day. The film showcased the evolution of coins, currency notes, and various forms of money used across different historical periods, highlighting the economic and cultural significance of India's monetary heritage.

Following the documentary, the students explored the museum's extensive exhibits, which displayed a rich collection of coins, currency notes, promissory notes, demand drafts, cheques, and other financial instruments arranged chronologically according to different historical eras. The exhibits offered valuable insights into the development of India's banking and financial systems, the evolution of currency design, and the changing methods of trade and transactions over time. The visit proved to be an enriching educational experience, enabling the students to connect theoretical concepts of economics with historical and practical perspectives while deepening their understanding of the nation's monetary and financial legacy.

Seminar Presentations on Techniques of Teaching Commerce

From 20th to 28th April 2026, the students conducted a series of seminars in which they presented innovative teaching techniques aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of classroom instruction. The seminars covered a variety of learner-centred pedagogical approaches, including case study methods, project-based learning, blended learning, experiential learning, collaborative learning, and the constructivist approach. Through well-planned presentations, demonstrations, and practical examples, the students illustrated how these methods promote active participation, critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and collaborative learning among students. The presentations emphasized the importance of moving beyond the traditional lecture method to create engaging, inclusive, and skill-oriented learning environments. Overall, the activity enriched the students' professional competencies and prepared them to adopt innovative and effective instructional strategies in their future teaching careers.

Assembly on Chartered Accountant’s Day

On 1st July 2026, on the occasion of Chartered Accountant’s Day, the students conducted a special assembly to commemorate the contribution of Chartered Accountants to the nation's economic growth and financial governance. The assembly highlighted the significance of the Chartered Accountancy profession, emphasizing its vital role in maintaining financial transparency, ensuring regulatory compliance, auditing, taxation, and fostering ethical business practices. The students also discussed the essential skills required to become a successful Chartered Accountant, such as analytical thinking, numerical aptitude, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, integrity, effective communication, and a strong sense of professional ethics. The assembly created awareness about the profession, inspired students to appreciate its importance, and encouraged them to explore career opportunities in the field of finance and accounting.

Assembly on Goods and Services Tax (GST) Day

On 1st July 2026, the students conducted a special assembly on the occasion of Goods and Services Tax (GST) Day to create awareness about India's unified taxation system. The assembly highlighted the significance of GST, which was implemented on 1st July 2017 as a landmark tax reform aimed at simplifying the indirect tax structure and promoting a unified national market. The students explained the importance of timely tax payment and how tax revenue is utilized by the government for public welfare and national development, including the construction of roads and infrastructure, healthcare services, education, public transportation, defence, sanitation, and various social welfare schemes. To make the session engaging and interactive, a quiz on GST and taxation was conducted, encouraging active participation and reinforcing the concepts discussed. Through informative presentations and the quiz, the assembly enhanced students' understanding of the role of taxation in nation-building and encouraged them to become responsible and informed citizens.

Assembly on NABARD Foundation Day

On 13th July 2026, the students conducted an informative session on the occasion of NABARD Foundation Day to mark the establishment of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). The session highlighted the significance of the day and provided an overview of NABARD's formation, objectives, and its pivotal role in promoting sustainable agriculture and rural development in India. The students explained how NABARD supports farmers, rural entrepreneurs, self-help groups, cooperative banks, and rural financial institutions through credit facilities, financial assistance, capacity-building programmes, and developmental initiatives. By showing a video, the session also emphasized NABARD's contribution to strengthening rural infrastructure, encouraging financial inclusion, and improving the socio-economic conditions of rural communities.

Session on Central Excise Day

On 24th February 2025, the students conducted a session on Central Excise Day. The session highlighted the contributions of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) and provided students with an understanding of the history and significance of Central Excise Day. The students explained the role of excise duty as an important source of revenue for the government and discussed how such revenue contributes towards the development and maintenance of essential public services.

The session further highlighted the connection between government revenue and areas such as infrastructure, education, healthcare and other public services. Through the activity, students gained a better understanding of taxation and its role in the economic development and functioning of the country.

Session on Consumer Rights Day

On 15th March 2025, the students organised a session on Consumer Rights Day, which focuses on creating awareness about consumer rights and needs. The session introduced students to the importance of being aware and responsible consumers and highlighted the need for fairness and transparency in the marketplace.

A short skit was presented depicting a consumer facing unfair practices. The skit demonstrated how awareness of consumer rights and the availability of consumer protection laws and forums can help individuals seek appropriate solutions to their grievances. The session encouraged students to understand their rights as consumers and also emphasised their responsibility to make informed choices and promote fair practices.

Seminar on Innovative Teaching Methods

On 21st June 2025, the students conducted seminars highlighting various teaching techniques and approaches that can be used by teachers to move beyond traditional classroom lectures. The students presented methods such as Case Study, Project-Based Learning, Blended Learning and the Constructivist Approach, explaining their relevance and application in the classroom.

The seminars helped students understand how varied teaching methods can make the learning process more interactive, engaging and enjoyable. They also highlighted how such approaches encourage active participation and help learners develop analytical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration and practical skills. The activity provided prospective teachers with exposure to different approaches that can be incorporated into their future classrooms.

Educational Visit to Thane District Cooperative Bank

On 24th June 2025, a bank visit was organised by Ms. Sanika Asolkar for the students. The students visited Thane District Cooperative Bank Ltd., Naigaon (W) with the objective of gaining firsthand knowledge about the functioning of a bank and understanding its role in economic development.

During the visit, students were provided information about different types of bank accounts, loan facilities, various departments and their functions, and day-to-day banking operations. They also gained information about different financial schemes and government policies, including government Yojanas such as the Ladki Bahin Yojana. The importance of insurance policies and their role in financial planning was also discussed.

The visit gave students an opportunity to observe and understand the practical aspects of banking, financial management and customer service. It helped them relate their theoretical knowledge to real-life applications and understand how banking institutions contribute to individuals, businesses and the wider economy. The visit was an informative and enriching experience that successfully bridged the gap between classroom learning and practical exposure.

Educational Visit to a Bank 

An educational visit to Bassein Catholic Co-operative Bank was organized on 4 April 2023. Students observed the functioning of the bank and gained firsthand knowledge of banking operations and customer interactions. They were introduced to the various financial products and services offered by the bank. Interaction with the bank officials also helped students understand different departmental functions and gain insights into potential career opportunities in the banking sector.

Seminar on Blended Learning 

A seminar on Blended Learning was conducted on 7 August 2023. The session introduced students to the concept of combining traditional classroom teaching with online learning activities. The seminar focused on the benefits of blended learning, including greater flexibility, personalized learning experiences and improved student engagement. The challenges involved in implementing blended learning and tips for its successful implementation were also discussed.

Seminar on 7 E's of Constructivism 

A seminar on the 7 E's of Constructivism was conducted on 7 August 2023. The session introduced the seven stages—Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate, Examine and Extend. Students learned how these stages could be applied in commerce teaching to encourage active participation, deeper understanding and critical thinking.

Nai Talim Activities

Nai Talim activities were conducted as part of the club's practical learning initiatives. The activities emphasized learning through experience and involved students in making useful items from everyday materials. These activities helped students connect their classroom learning with practical skills that could be useful in their future. 

Preparation of Teaching Aid Models 

Students prepared various teaching aid models relevant to commerce subjects on 4 January 2024. The models provided visual representations of complex concepts such as fixed assets and liabilities and small-scale industries. The activity aimed to make classroom learning more engaging and facilitate better understanding of commerce concepts.
