It's Spooky Month!

Let's see what elevators are really for...
Simply put, elevators are used to carry people up and down floors. But they are so much more than a form of transportation. They can be a tremendous help for people who are scared of stair steps, people in crutches, blind people, and they can make a monumental difference for people in wheelchairs, with or without prosthetics. Elevators can help these individuals access parts of buildings they wouldn’t be able to with only stairs. They are quite literally life changing.
This wonderful tool has a rich and complicated history. Back in the past, you had to pull a lever to get to your specific floor. Now there are buttons that you can simply press. Elevators used to only be in big buildings, but now there are even some elevators seen in suburban homes. Isn’t that a dream?
As you can see I love elevators and am a passionate advocate for their utility for others and their technical functioning. The visuals that get me facinated with them is the different types of numbers, bells, buttons, door window, ambient moving noises, and interior overall.
It disappoints me to see people who do not treat elevators with the respect they deserve.
I am not alone in my obsessions. There are many others on YouTube who share my interest and passion for this amazing invention. Did you know there are thousands of videos of elevators uploaded to Youtube? If you want to learn more check them out!
Next week I have a special article that I hope you will all enjoy. My goal is to make you love elevators as much as I do! (But not really)
Wanna check out the elevators I filmed?

Tesla, Inc. logo

Hey, everyone! Do you know what Tesla is? Tesla is a car company that runs on electricity instead of gas. Tesla has Model cars such as Model 3, Model S, Model X, and Model Y. The founders of Tesla, Inc. are Elon Musk, Martin Eberhard, JB Straubel, Marc Tarpenning, and Ian Wright. Tesla was founded on July 1st, 2003. Tesla had gone public on June 29th, 2010. They founded Tesla, Inc. in San Carlos, California. I’d love to have one of the Tesla cars when I am a full-grown adult (but first I need to learn how to drive - but did you know Tesla has a function that has the car drive by itself? How cool is that?) Tesla is very important to me because Tesla cars are rechargeable and battery-powered. These features are better for the environment. To “gas” up a Tesla, which means charge it, drivers can go to the Supercharger and charge up their car so that it will be ready to go! If you are in a big city you may have seen some Teslas used as taxis. I think riding in a Tesla taxi is much better than riding in a yellow cab. Teslas are an amazing invention and are the future!

Where some of us live there are quite a lot of subway stations, there are even some that are abandoned and forgotten. As an avid subway enthusiast, I thought to myself “Hey! Maybe I should do a top three on the best subway stations in New York".
#3: Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center. This station is home to many trains The B, D, N, Q, R, 2, 3, 4, 5, and even the Long Island Railroad. Not to mention you can also see a basketball game at the Barclays Center: Home of the Brooklyn Nets. Also, did you know that the Brooklyn Nets used to belong to New Jersey? They had this team until October 2012.
Fun Fact: This station is over 100 years old, Come to think of it, almost all of the stations are 100 years old!
#2: Times Square-42nd Street. In this station you can transfer to the N, Q, R, W, 1, 2, 3, 7, and even the Shuttle that goes to Grand Central. You can even transfer to the Port Authority Bus Terminal, and also the A, C, and the E. According to Wikipedia: The shuttle is the oldest subway platform in this station and for any art lovers, you can find a few mosaics throughout the station.
And Finally #1: Fulton Street. Where do I even start with this station. You can transfer to the 2, 3, 4, 5, J, Z, A, and C Trains via the normal staircases and elevators, or the Fulton Center. I didn't notice this until I did some research on Wikipedia but you can even transfer to the 1, E, R, W, And The PATH Train via the World Trade Center Transportation Hub.
That’s all for now. I'm working on Part 2 of the subway stations are worthy of mentioning. Stay tuned!
Hey guys! For those who read Part 1 of my Subway Series, I’m back with more of my favorite stations. Keep reading to find out which stations made the cut.
Number 3: All of the 125th Street Stations. There are quite a few stations in 125th street. There’s one in Broadway where the station is elevated, as well as Saint Nicholas Avenue, Lenox Avenue, And Lexington Avenue, for the 1, A, B, C, D, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 trains respectively, There’s even a station for the Metro North Railroad In Park Avenue. Also those stations are close to the Apollo Theatre. Stop by if you want to see a Harlem icon and a huge performance.
Number 2: 161st Street- Yankee Stadium. I may probably have something to say about the artwork, for one thing it’s exquisite, especially in the underground portion on the B and D. Seriously, there's wall side seating on the platforms for that line, but since I've never waited on the station I would say that the seats are a bit comfortable. I forgot to mention the elephant in the room...this station is awesome because it’s right by Yankee Stadium. After checking out the beautiful artwork, stop by and check out a baseball game - home to my favorite team, the New York Yankees.
DRUM ROLL PLEASE...the Number 1 subway station is: Coney Island - Stillwell Ave. Now this station really screams terminal station - there’s literally 4 platforms for each train with the middle platforms for the F And the Q and the 2 platforms at the end are for the D And the N. Not to mention this station is right by Coney Island. After checking out the station you can go on the many rides in Coney island or go to the beach to play or relax.
Well then I believe that’s it for now. However, I’m not going to be making a part 3 because it would be way too repetitive so anyways stay tuned for the next post i guess.
The Starry Night animated background inside the Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience.

Are you someone who loves art and wants to immerse yourself in it? Look no further than the Vincent Van Gogh Exhibit. The new exhibit opened on February 11th, 2021 and showcases the many different paintings by Van Gogh. But, it’s not a regular museum - it’s an experience!
This exhibit is different because you get to see his paintings animated - which means the pictures move. Van Gogh painted over 900 paintings and produced even more that many people haven’t seen.
One of Van Gogh’s most famous paintings, The Starry Night (pictured above), can be experienced in a whole new way. It’s as if you are in the painting itself!
The exhibit is being shown in many cities, maybe even the one you live in! If you love art and want to experience it in a new way, check out the Vincent Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience.

Alright, so this happened about a year ago in January where my mom and I took two taxis just to go to my doctor's appointment. So everything started off as normal, we took the A all the way to 42nd Street Port Authority, and the 7 To Grand Central, but when we were waiting for our 7 Train she was holding out a small blue paper that read “406, 10th Ave” I tried to tell her that it’s the old location but she just ignored me. When we left the Grand Central Terminal we took a taxi to said location thanks to my taxi calling skills and when we went there it sure was the old location, it was literally abandoned and everything. So we had to take another taxi, the first thing i thought was “Man i can’t believe we had to take two taxis!” and the other thing i thought was probably “Well this sucks. What's next are we gonna take a third taxi” But that never happened thankfully, so we had my appointment and everything went back to normal again.
The End.
Oh and one more note: I wanted to take the 1 to 168th Street but my mom told me it would be a long walk from the station to our house so I had to just agree to take the long passageway to the A C and E Platforms but she did know better about a year later.
Indigenous People wearing their traditional clothing.

October 15th, 2021
On Friday, October 8th, 2021, President Joe Biden declared a holiday on October 11th would be renamed. On Monday, October 11th, 2021, most students do not go to school because it’s a national holiday. Most of you know this holiday as Columbus Day. However, this holiday has an interesting history and many people no longer call it Columbus Day. In fact, it is called Indigenous Peoples’ Day because it celebrates Native American people (also known as Indians.) Another reason why we now celebrate Indigenous People's’ Day is because we are going to rethink history by learning more about what Native Americans do to celebrate it. As a country we need to honor the people who lived in this land first. Here are some ways you can celebrate Indigineous Peoples’ Day:
You can learn more about Indigienous Cultures
You can watch videos about Indigneous people and the way they live
You can also ask questions and do research on your own to learn more about this holiday!
Do you see this building? I used to live there. The experience... was awesome. If you have read long stories online or in an actual book, this online story is for you. All imagery you see in parts 1 and 2 is outdated on the premises as of 2024!
-INTRO-
The newcomers of the building. They might be witnessing how I'm always interacting with the building staff in the years 2017-present. “What does it mean?” Perhaps we should get to the lore.
-MOVING OUT OF NATHAN HALE GARDENS AND IN CORLEAR GARDENS-
Starting in 2007, my mother wanted us to live in a better apartment. For that matter, we moved out of Nathan Hale Gardens, and into Corlear Gardens.
The lobby walls at Corlear Gardens consisted of circle-outline textures. The outline color on the side with the elevators was blue, and on the other side, the outline color where the compactor room door and intercom are located was green. The wall design and texture of the lobby looked and felt like an NYC subway station back then.
-THE LAUNDRY ROOM OF SPEED QUEEN WASHERS AND DRYERS-
The basement inside the property consisted of an On-Premises laundry room, consisting of six front load washers, two top load washers, two stacked pairs of front load dryers, and one single front load dryer, all from the brand: “Speed Queen.” The laundry machine provider was Coinmach, which was acquired by CSC Serviceworks in 2013.
The laundry room itself also consisted of two electric high-velocity fans, one electric heater in the form of a fan, and pipes that were connected to the washers. Whenever the washers would transition into the drain cycle, water would exit out of those pipes. For washers aligned 1-4, water exits out a little tub consisting of a drain. For washers aligned 5-8, water exits out a metallic square, resembling the looks of an actual sink with two sides.
-THE ELEVATORS-
The building itself has two elevators, with bells inside them, programmed to ding and a digital arrow next to the digital floor number to show every time the elevator doors open. Outside and inside the elevators, the numbers are digital. The “Up” bell is green and the “Down” is was red, on both elevators. One elevator is programmed to park at 10, and the other elevator is programmed to park at 1, (and vice versa) after arriving at a floor close to 1 or 10.
The elevator walls and inner door were red. The elevators were fast when they moved. Both elevator inner and outer doors have a window and a grid. The shape of the window grids was a square outline. On floor 19, the right side elevator outer door’s window consisted of dot grids.
In the lobby, the elevator's outer doors were made entirely out of stainless steel. The left side outer door would make rattling noises every time it opened and closed, and the right side outer door would make a loud slamming noise every time it closed. There are two lights above the lobby entrance doors to the intercom on the outside of those doors.
Have you ever felt like you’re magically in another direction of the building when the elevators have taken you to your floor/lobby/basement? Well, exiting the elevator at the basement makes it feel like you’re in one direction of the building, exiting it at the lobby makes it feel like you’re in another direction of the building, and exiting it on apartment floors 2-21 makes it feel like you’re in yet another direction! We resided on Floor 20, Apartment C. That apartment unit consisted of a view. The view was also something to look at!
-THE VIEW-
I saw the Tracey Towers, Cannon Heights Apartments, Fort Independance Houses, and 2630 Kingsbridge Terrace, (the main buildings). I also saw Nathan Hale Gardens, (My grandma still lives in that building) and Waldo Gardens, (the building where one of my mother’s aunts lives at.) I could also see the NYC R62A 1 Train pass by, the Broadway Bridge, Two schools in front of Corlear Gardens with American flags, Various suburban homes, more buildings, the U-haul truck center, and Promenade Apartments on the south (on the residential playground), and a sports field on the north.
During the evening, Checking the view, I would always look at the streetlights from far away, and up close, and see them turn on. When they turn on, they start light blue, and then they slowly turn yellow. The yellow light on one of the schools would stay on 24/7, along with a yellow light from the sports field. Whenever there was sunset, I would see the reflection of the sunshine from 2630 Kingsbridge Terrace. Little did I know the negative things going on in Fort Independence Houses...
-THE WINTERTIME VIEW-
Every winter, I would look at the Christmas lights on all of the premises that I saw. Some of the decorations were animated, and some were not.
During winter, whenever it snowed, I would always look at how the green color on the grass turned white. At night, I would see the snowflakes fall. I saw it with the shine of a streetlight from the view.
There would be a cyan light blinking. The light would blink like the strobe of a commercial fire alarm system. And every night, the cyan light would turn red, and blink and flash slower than usual. And whenever it rains or if there’s fog overall, the buildings look as if they’re fading away from existence.
Whenever the wind was blowing outside, noises inside the apartment floor halls sounded like ambient vacuums with whirring that went higher every time the wind outside blew stronger.
-PLAYGROUND AND PARKING AREA-
Outside Corlear Gardens was a playground. The playground only consisted of Various benches, lampposts, stairs to the parking lot, and lobby entrances. There was a light above the basement entrance door to the laundry room. It was lit yellow. There was no light above the basement community room entrance door.
The property also has a parking lot with lampposts that look exactly like the streetlights. The only difference between those lights and the streetlights is that the streetlights were lit yellow, and the parking area lights were lit light blue.
The parking lot also has a basement entrance door via parking lot, Light grey asphalt, a ramp for the disabled, yellow spray paint, yellow parking bumpers, and a brown workshop shed for the superintendent that was built about 4-10 months after I moved in, three automatic gates, with Vandalized stop signs attached on the outside of the gates. All three automated gates have yellow bumpers attached to them.
The color of the stop signs on both sides of all gates was fading away, year by year. All three gates also consisted of “gate caution” signs on both sides of all of the gates. (“Moving gate can cause serious Injury or Death”) The left gate had a fast alarm, the middle gate had a slow alarm, and the right gate had its alarm silenced. The middle and right gates would make banging noises every time they are halfway from fully open/closed. The gate in the middle has two thick diagonal lines, and the gates on the left and right have two thin letter X’s. Each gate was operated by a PowerMaster gate opener, which is behind the alarm noises for two of the electric gates.
Both of the lobby entrance doors looked exactly the same. Except for their handlebar colors. The lobby entrance door to the intercom has two “Pull” stickers on the outside, two “Push” stickers on the inside, white handlebars on the outside, black handlebars on the inside, and the Lobby entrance door to the units and elevators consisted of a keyhole (generically), black handlebars on both the outside and inside of the doors, along with a “Pull” handle that triggers a lever lock that keeps the door from opening to open the door.
-SUPERINTENDENT MANNY-
Every December on the second floor, there would be Christmas decorations with animated lighting. All I can remember is the train out of it. All of that yearly decorating was the work of the male Superintendent named “Manny.” He looked a bit chubby, and he worked in the boiler room of the building. Whenever residents and their children say hi to him, he says hi back.
-INDOOR AND OUTDOOR LIGHTING-
On the top 21st floor, it was always dark. The interior lighting seen in the lobby (When entering the lobby) and on the 21st floor are the same. They looked like circles. And it had colorful lighting. On 21, where the doors to units C and D were located, there was regular interior lighting. On all floors below 21 excluding the lobby, all consisted of regular interior lighting everywhere. In the lobby, part of it where the units and elevators are, along with one of them in the middle of four colorful circle lighting consisted of regular interior lighting. The shape and color of the “regular lighting” was like a rectangle. The lighting itself was white. There was also a staircase C, leading from the lobby to the basement only. Staircase B can be seen behind the compactor room door.
-GROUPS OF EXTERIOR LIGHTING-
The property’s exterior and lobby interior lighting are always turned on and off, on the alignment of various groups. Part of the lobby where the units were also consisted of a light with the word “Exit” on it. Above the elevator, unit, and staircase doors, and blue circle-outline texture walls were just a plain white part of the wall.
The rest of the lobby walls were plain white, some of the lobby walls were just colored beige. An actual exit sign was in front of the lobby entrance doors to the intercom on the inside of the doors. The wall textures also looked like an MTA NYC subway station.
The first group would be the parking lot lights next to the automatic gates, The lampposts behind a fence to the playground, and a lamppost next to a trio of benches. One group of benches is on the left, the other is on the bottom middle, and the other one is on the right side, hence the lamppost being on the bottom right. The other group of lights turning on would be the lighting on the building property’s outer wall everywhere, along with some lampposts in front of the balconies on the units in front of the elevators.
Those lampposts, along with the one next to the bench trio always lit up light blue. The third group of lights was the lobby lighting on the entrance part of it, along with the pair of lights above the entrance doors from the outside of the building.
-BACK IN THE LOBBY-
Back in the lobby, a mirror was seen on the left of where the elevators are at, and another mirror was located at where the lobby vent was at. Up the stairs from the playground to the lobby entrance was a door with a knob with a keyhole on the inside and outside of the door. I guess that is to keep the actual trespassers out. Whenever there was wind, there was some whistling noise. Opening the lobby entrance doors will make the tone of the noise go higher... unless both of the entrance doors are open.
-PROPERTY MANAGER CLEO-
The management office was located in the basement. The office consisted of a bathroom with the same toilet as seen in the laundry room bathroom, an air conditioner, a female property manager named “Cleopatra” (“Cleo” for short), and a computer, consisting of video camera footage of the parking and playground areas, elevators, and more... My mother told me she comes to work every Tuesday. The building also consists of male security guards named “Jorge” and “Bujin.”
-DIFFERENCES WITH ONE OF THE LAMPPOSTS-
One of the lampposts’ tops was different from the others. Specifically, the one that is close to the basement entrance door to the laundry room. The rest of the property’s exterior lighting was lit blue, some were lit yellow, and some were lit turquoise, I guess you could say they lit some colorful lighting outside!
-TURQUOISE COLORED DOORS-
All doors (excluding elevator outer doors on the lobby) on each floor were turquoise, like planet Neptune. Even the outside of the basement entrance door was turquoise. Except for the outside of the basement community room entrance door. It was black on the outside. My mother told me that the door formerly had a doorknob.
The lobby consisted of a random mirror on the ceiling on the left side where the elevators were. In the area where the intercom is, the lobby walls consisted of green circle-outline textures. There is a big see-through lobby window on the south side where the entrance doors to the units and intercom were located. Be careful not to break it!
The basement entrance door to the laundry room consisted of a handle on the outside and a handle on the inside. It would always slam, along with the big playground entrance gate. Both that gate and the basement entrance door to the laundry room consisted of a keyhole that was grey, just like the fences and the gates of the property. The lights on the bricks of the outside of the property were in various different colors. There was a light located one floor above the community room. The color it lit was also turquoise.
-TO BE CONTINUED-
Yes, everything was alright. But some stuff might be subject to change... but what is going to change? Find out next week.
Wanna check out the Corlear Gardens elevators? Click here.
I wrote something which involves the "brother building" of Corlear Gardens. Check it out here!
Minor changes were to be done inside and outside Corlear Gardens. Major paragraphs were to be written about it! Enjoy reading... hehehehe.
-SEWER DRAINS/CONTINUATION-
The whole building property consisted of big circle sewer drains. One on where that lamppost was with the benches, another one on where the trees were, two of them on the asphalt of the playground, one on the parking lot, and one in front of the building angle in the middle of balconies on the lobby apartment units facing east, and the lobby entrance facing south. I would always watch the fireworks from the view from the apartment unit where I lived at that time…
-SUPERINTENDENT PEDRO'S DEBUT-
Corlear Gardens also hired a new male superintendent. His name was Pedro. Apparently Manny was fired or something. They also requested for new outdoor lighting to be put on the brick walls of the building property. Weeks later, The outdoor lighting was installed. Some of them replaced the former pre-existing lighting that was on the brick walls. Both of the basement entrance doors via the playground now have exterior lighting above them. Both of the lighting were lit light blue.
-DOOR REPLACEMENT?-
The lobby entrance doors (with the keyhole), which consisted of Black handles on both the inside and outside was replaced with New lobby entrance doors! Those doors consisted of another “Pull” handle triggering a lever lock. The handlebars on the outside were white, and the handlebars on the inside were black and white.
- INSTALLATION OF WASCOMAT AND LG WASHERS REPLACING SOME SPEED QUEEN WASHERS (WARNING: LONG PARAGRAPH)-
Every time the Speed Queen front load washers slowed down after the final spin, the drums started one more regular spin with the clothing before ending the cycle. Those front load washers in the OP laundry room were replaced one year after the lighting replacement. The Speed Queen front load washers were replaced with two pairs of front load washing machines from LG, and one pair of front load washing machines from Wascomat.
The Wascomat washers consisted of two extra wash options, (Heavy Soil, Extra Rinse) A screen with a blue background and white text, a door with a custom-designed lock, with directions above the lock, and a knob on where the screen was to change the wash cycle.
The money card displays the price number. The screen on the washer beeps 20 times every time a wash cycle is finished. The motor sound I heard from the Speed Queen front load washers at full speed were high pitched whirring noises.
The motor sound I heard from the Wascomat front load washers at full speed were noises that sounded like a testcard/censorship beep. Those only sped up counter-clockwise. The motor sound I heard from the LG front load washers at buildup, full speed and slow down sounded like the red room noise from Silent Hill PT.
Those washers speed up going both ways at random. The Speed Queen top load washers and front load dryers still remain there. Whenever they speed up, They go both ways.
After slowing down to a halt, the LG and Speed Queen front load washers do one more regular spin. The Wascomat washers however, do not. The blue screen then indicates the door is still locked before slowing to a halt. After this, the cycle is finished. The screen then indicates the washer is ready to unload. This results in the door being unlocked beeping noises to proceed. The ESD money card says “Busy” whenever the Wascomat washers are in use.
Whenever I see the replacement front load washing machines spinning fast, All of the LG washers would shake every time, as well as with one of the Wascomat washers.
The single pair of Wascomat washers on the east side, and the first pair of LG Washers on the south side were connected to those pipes that go to the little tub with the drain.
I always wanted to acknowledge the Wascomat washers the most in the OP laundry room because there was only a single pair of those. Remember I said something about water draining out of washers 1-4 to pipes that lead to the tub with the drain? Very Little did I know that Coinmach was every tenants’ rival.
-LAUNDRY ROOM EXTERIOR-
There are lights in the laundry room. The lighting that is seen in the laundry room is also lighting seen in part of the lobby with the units and elevators.
More of it is located with the intercom, the whole basement, and all apartment floor halls starting from 2-21. The laundry room lights can be turned on with only a single light switch.
Turn the lights off and what do you get? Only one light remains turned on in the OP laundry room no matter what you do. And there is a buzzing noise in the laundry room 24/7 there! It was always like that during my time living in the property!
-BRICK REPLACEMENT-
Months after the “installation” of the Wascomat and LG front load washers, came replacing the bricks from not only Corlear Gardens, but from Tibbett Towers, 315 Edwardian Apartments, one of the schools, and many other building properties, too! At Corlear Gardens, there was a lot of drilling noises going on, there were workers going up, workers going down, it was noise chaos!
I had to find a way to "cheat the system" to still go out and play outside the building. The automatic gate on the left portion of the parking area remained open until the work was complete. I remember, one time I went outside, People were hammering something on the scaffolding, I overall couldn’t play outside.
A pro was that i heard a fan noise that came from somewhere inside the OP laundry room. Little did I know about the heater in the OP laundry room weeks later. A switch that was for the heater also had a Coinmach poster explaining washing temperatures.
There was scaffolding everywhere on the premises! Lobby entrance, Basement entrance, you name it! Progress took a long time... We ended the year 2012 with the scaffolding and bricks and started the year 2013 with the scaffolding and bricks. There were even LED construction lamps on all angles from one of the schools! Months later, everything was fully finished.
-NEW NEW NEW!-
New bricks, New lighting, New superintendent, “New” front load washers. Even the grey part of the keyholes on the basement entrance door via the laundry room and playground entrance gate were painted black, along with one of the doors itself.
Somewhere between the “New” event, I made friends with more kids living on the premises. We had fun.
One time, when riding the right side elevator down to play with them outside, No fan was to be heard from that elevator. It was turned off. It was just the motor making noise. The motor was a motor you could actually hear whenever the elevator moves. The right side elevator fan was turned off for a bit. It was turned on again days later.
-BEIGE TO ORANGE-
One of the lampposts on the playground usually light up beige. One night, when I saw it light up along with the others in the second group, it lit up Orange!
Every evening it kept lighting up orange! I found that very interesting. And then came deactivating the left side elevator. It looked like it was broken. It sat idle at 9, and then it sat idle at 1. It kept sitting idle at 1. It looked like it was broken for weeks.
-WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE LEFT SIDE ELEVATOR?-
One day, I independently ventured into the lobby at a young age while my grandma and mother were sitting on the benches, I saw the left side elevator cab slowly come down, I saw the thick metal line that has a part in operating the inner door, the whole cab casually passed the lobby, I saw other things too. I saw something that looked like a horseshoe, I saw someone in the elevator.
The elevator cab stopped at the basement, along with something on the right side elevator making it look as if the elevator cab itself just casually stop at the lobby slowly. Next thing I saw, the left side elevator outer door at the lobby opened, and I saw curtains with blue and white stripes, and the human inside the elevator was security working on the elevator. He probably had a big lamp.
I frantically ran out of the lobby. When me, my mother and my grandmother were going home up to floor 20, the right side elevator stopped at the lobby, and when the elevator door opened, there was a shade of light, coming from the security above the left side elevator cab in the basement. It must have been the lighting above the left side elevator cab that made it look like the right side elevator cab arrived at the lobby. Weeks later, the left side elevator was fully fixed.
However, when the elevator door opened, it revealed a very loud fan. The fan was even at a high tone. It felt unsettling for me. I thought it was going to be dysfunctional after weeks of being broken. From that moment forward, I refused to ride the left side elevator.
I would always refuse to ride the left side elevator and instead, ride the right side elevator. Weeks passed by after the new fan on the left side elevator was installed, and after those weeks, they turned down the tone on the new fan. I still didn’t trust the elevator.
One time when we went home from outside the park, the left elevator came for us. I didn’t like it. I was crying to get off of it. The elevator slowed down at 14, and then continued on the way to 20. We arrive at 20, and then go to our apartment. Days later when riding the left side elevator, to go places with my mother, I started trusting it more.
-FAN OFF-
Grandma went back to her home weeks later. When going to school, and back home when the left side elevator came, the fan was turned off. All that was heard was a noise whenever the elevator door was open. The right side elevator was also either broken or deactivated for unknown reasons.
Weeks later, the right side elevator was reactivated, and the fan on the left side elevator was turned back on. Grandma then visited me again. It was another overstaying of a visit. When my mother had to do errands, grandma would look after me. I went outside the building with her, said hi to Pedro, and the neighbors/other tenants of the building too.
-ELEVATOR BELLS-
One thing I would see from the left side elevator is that the “Up” bell refused to ding, and “Down” only rang once, the dinging was low in volume in the left side elevator, but normal on the right side elevator. Whenever the Right side elevator was ringing “Up”, There would be the obvious top green part of the bell light, but with a little bit of the bottom red part of the bell light as well for some reason. The “Up” light always lit up just like that on the Right side Elevator. And then came 2014. I was about to have my first true obsession. But when was that? We’ll discuss it next week.
-MORE LORE IN MY CHILDHOOD PAST-
During most of my time in Corlear Gardens, I watched basically almost all the shows from Disney Junior and PBS Kids with a little bit of Nickolodeon and Cartoon Network.
In 2013, My mother brought me a Nintendo DSi. I was introduced to various games for the consoles in the Nintendo DS series. Franchises like Mario, Lego, Minions, and many more. There was a Jeopardy game. The console also consisted of a Photo camera with various effects, a voice memo, an internet browser, a flipbook application called “Flipnote Hatena” and many more to even describe. I also watched A bit of Jeopardy and mostly Wheel of Fortune.
There was this one bonus round puzzle solved that was TOO UNEXPECTED Worldwide. (Does New Baby Buggy ring a bell? R S T L N E, H D M O.) There also was this one time in the first half of November in 2013 where it would snow. (Specifically on the 7th, I think.) I would see people using snow machines in the aftermath of snowfall.
I would go to various playgrounds, one was Van Cortlandt Park, the other consisted of a highway below. My grandma used to take me to the playground inside one of the schools seen in front of Corlear Gardens on the east. Specifically the one on the left. We weren’t even called out once for going in the park.
There was a playground in a school I went to, too. Let’s just say I was a part-time dork during my 2013-2014 year in that school overall before switching to the main site… That school consisted of two elevators.
One elevator led from the Basement to the fourth floor. The other one led from the first floor to the fifth floor. The pair of doors on the elevator from the first floor to the fifth floor were both lefties.
The other one that leads from the basement to the fourth floor had pairs of doors that were usually seen on Both elevators. One left, and one right. On the outer buttons there were two letters. “UP” “DN”. They obviously stand for “up” and “down”. The indicator itself wasn’t digital.
The up arrow was on the left and the down arrow was on the right. The numbers were in the middle. The ringing noises sound like the elevators at Corlear Gardens, the main topic. The doors on the basement and first floor were beige, the second floor was purple, the third floor was blue, the fourth floor, where the top floor on the B-4 elevator was yellow.
On the 1-5 elevator, the fourth floor was white. The top fifth floor was white on the 1-5 elevator. There are two entries to the school on the first floor that is turquoise. The 1-5 elevator is located in one of those entries. Outside the basement was dark. As of now is currntly unknown.
I also went to a circus in 2013. (2012-2013 year of school) It consisted of a show, clowns, the generic usual. The taxi ride to the circus was crowded, but on our way home, we went on an access-a-ride bus. Keep in mind, Never have I rode one in my life! It was my first time. I saw the nightly view. It was amazing. Even one of the teachers was impressed on my adventure.
In 2012, I visited my grandma, who still resides at Nathan Hale Gardens even after i moved out. The elevators over there also had windows on their doors. The outer doors of the elevators at the lobby consisted of a small grid of diamonds on the stainless steel doors. Above the elevator doors were indicators that were just like the elevator indicators at that one school I went to in 2012-2014. Inside the elevator was a digital floor indicator. All floors above the lobby consisted of digital numbers. It was just like the ones at Corlear Gardens, the main topic!..
On my way to school, I mostly took the Broadway Bridge on many school buses. I think I also took the Henry Hudson Bridge home during Summer 2013.
NATHAN HALE GARDENS-
In the elevators at Nathan Hale Gardens was a big fan in the middle of the ceiling. The lighting made it look grey, with a small tint of blue. The left side elevator was broken at that time. The building consisted of two sides.
One set of units on the left, and one set of units on the right. My mother, me, grandmother, mother’s aunt, my grandfather and my uncle all lived on the right side. My uncle’s uncle lived on the left side. I wanted to go to the left side of the building. And maybe see the elevators on the left side.
The lighting made the walls of the right side elevator over there red. I wanted to stay with grandma. But it didn’t last long... I went back to Corlear Gardens where my mother resides, in an upset mood, because I wanted to stay with grandma.
In Nathan Hale Gardens, there was also a Superintendent named Paul. Never once have I interacted with him during my visit to grandma. He did see me as a baby, while actually LIVING at the building. My mother told me about the time she got stuck on the left side elevator with me as a baby in Nathan Hale Gardens. A staff member of the property was in the elevator with my mother. My mother told me that I was crying for the whole moment I was stuck.
-315 EDWARDIAN-
One time, I almost ventured into the LOBBY ENTRANCE of an apartment building called “315 Edwardian”. That residential area was close to Tibbett Towers and Corlear Gardens. The building consisted of two automatic gates which appear to be installed in 2011, according to Google Maps Street View. The gates consist of the “gate caution” sign only. What was literally seen from the building's lobby entrance only consisted of one right side elevator. The indicator was not the digital type.
-FRIENDS MY GRANDMOTHER AND MOTHER MADE WITH-
At Corlear Gardens, my mother and grandmother were friends with people that live or have moved into Corlear Gardens. One lived in 5e, one lived on 7b, one lived in 5b and one lived in 14f. The one in 5b was my grandmother's brother and he had a big screen TV. He passed away, very little did I know.
The one in 5e is a female that lives in an apartment unit with everything aligned to resemble my grandma’s apartment unit (how it’s aligned.) And the one on 7b is also a female and is a friend of my grandma.
-STAIRWELLS-
I look through the window of the doors and see that on staircase A, it leads to 21. I looked at staircase B, which leads to 21 as well. I was confused at the alignment of the staircase doors at that time.
On the bottom of staircase A at the lobby, and staircase C from the basement to the lobby, there was yellow lighting on where part of the staircases to the lobby were at.
-NEVER HOLD ELEVATOR DOORS FOR TOO LONG!/TO BE CONTINUED-
There is a consequence for holding the elevator doors in Corlear Gardens for way too long though. And it’s very startling and ear-straining! This can be bad for especially those who are sensitive to certain loudness!
The elevators would perform an INSANE LOUD BUZZ! At this point, you HAVE to let the doors close! The digital indicators also blink "N.D." This action that the elevators proceed to do is called "Nudge Mode."
Did I mention that the door sensors on the elevator beep when you trigger them by putting something on somewhere where the door sensors can see? And how do the elevator doors open at regular speed? Anyway, if all of you wish to know my first obsession with something, too bad. Because that will be saved for next week. So stay tuned.
