Mountain biking
My sport
What is an olympic sport, that is played on mountains and you need a bike… mountain biking! Mountain biking is very hard to determine where it started but many people think that it started at Marin county's MT. Tamalpais in the late 1960’s . Mountain biking rules are similar to other cycling events like round biking. Some of the rules are that you must wear a helmet, control your bike and speed, don’t block the road, leave no trace, ride within boundaries, don’t disturb animals and don’t trespass. In the name Mountain Biking you can guess where it takes place, yes on a mountain. You need a helmet, water, mountain bike, GPS, compass, headlight and of course a mountain.
Newton's 1 law
Science is in many sports such as Mountain biking and other cycling events. If you don’t know what Newton’s 1st law is, you will need to know what it is if you want to understand this. Newton’s 1st law is that an object in motion will stay in motion unless a force stops it and an object at rest will stay at rest unless a force moves it. Now you know what Newton’s 1st law is.
Do you know what a balanced and unbalanced force is? An unbalanced force is when one force (does not matter which one) is pushing more, this means that the object will move. A balanced force is when ALL the forces are pushing the same amount, this means that the object is balanced and it will not move unless the force becomes unbalanced. Some examples of balanced forces in mountain biking are, when you are wanting to start/ stop the race, when you are sitting on your bike and when you push the brake. Some examples of unbalanced forces in mountain biking are, when your hips move side to side, when you pedal the bike and when you move the handlebar to turn.
Newton's 2 law
What does at rest and in motion mean? In motion is when something/someone is moving a body part or the entire thing. At rest means not moving at all. You are in motion when you are in the race, start the race and when you are warming up. When you are at rest is when you are wanting to start the race, when you stop the race and every time you stop the bike. When you do almost anything in mountain biking you are using muscle force to do it.
Newton’s 3rd law
Every action has an equal and opposite reaction action. That is Newton's third law. An action is when one force applies a certain amount of force and a reaction is the same amount of force that is applied in the opposite direction. Here are some, when you push on the right pedal the left on go up, when you push on the left pedal the right pedal go’s up, when you finish the race and brack the ribbon it pushes back with the same force, when you turn the right handlebar that turns the wheel which turns bike right and when you turn the the left handlebar that turns the wheel which turns the bike left. Now you know all about mountain biking.
