Students worked with our art teacher on four art mediums: acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, and oil pastel. They spent time practicing techniques with each medium as well as time exploring certain elements and principles of art. Then, students worked with one medium to create multiple drafts of their final product artwork. Students gave feedback to peers in small groups using EL education feedback protocols. Each student gave and received specific, kind, and helpful feedback from peers and teachers to guide their work on multiple drafts. This helped students work towards a finalized piece of high quality artwork.
"For the final product, we're working with lines and repetition and shapes and shading to show how your person is moving in your Olympic sport." Shea
"We drew swimming. We had to create the positions and trace them in sharpie and colored them in different shades to show them moving." C.C.
"On the charcoal (project), we made it to where it was realistic. We used a brush to make it look like it was moving, like it was in one place and going to the other. That skill is called value." Miles
"For the car (project), we used different colors and blended them to make it look like flashing lines to show it's moving fast." Lexi
