We are about to read a book about a maker, a girl named Sicily who likes to use her imagination to make things. What kinds of things do you like to create?
Think about something you might create to give away. Why might you want to give something you made to someone else? When might you create something just to give it away?
Pay attention to the pictures in 48 Grasshopper Estates as we read the story together. A lot of the story is being told through the pictures, even more than through the words.
This is a great Ted Talk about making that would be appropriate for Grades 4+.
