Social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs are a type of special educational needs in which children have may have difficulties in managing their emotions and / or social situations. They often show inappropriate responses and feelings to situations. Children with SEMH will often feel anxious, scared and misunderstood.
There is a range of SEMH intervention pastoral staff can put into place that can make a real difference to the lives of these students and many of them require a low level of funding (if any).
