Some children’s learning needs cannot be met by universal whole school or class approaches. These children may have a greater difficulty than their peers with understanding, thinking, communicating, problem solving, retaining information and learning new concepts and skills. These difficulties maybe more general in nature and cover a broad range of areas of learning, or they may be more specific difficulties (e.g. in maths or with literacy). Targeted interventions that support with this area can help in many ways:
Increase self-confidence and self-worth
Increase in engagement levels and motivation
Improvement in reading attainment
Pupil is developing independent learning skills and problem-solving strategies
Able to record information in a variety of ways
Able to access learning and school environment
